i have a 2004 ramsrt10. silver. i bought it new, it now has a whopping 7500 miles on it. ive made the x-metal shifter upgrade, boomers stage 2 computer, magnaflow exhaust, and k&n cai. i love the truck but i have a problem i hope someone hear can help me with. every now and then when i go to hammer the beast it dies, sometimes it triggers the idiot light sometimes it dont. it will start back up and run just fine. i dont have acess to a viper tech and it was doing this before i changed the computer. boomer said he thought the computer would remedy this but it didnt, it did however keep it from stalling out. again it only does once in a blue moon. i becoming very angry with this truck. i dont abuse it in anyway but im afraid to drive it like it was built for due to fear of it falling flat on its face. i can pull out normal and then hammer and everything fine. please help.

Sorry I can't help with your problem - but there are others who will chime in later on............

In the meantime - WELCOME to the forum and hang in there help is on the way :D  :D

Welcome to the forum!

You have definitely come to the right place for the answers you seek!

Here are a few for you for clarification:

Aside from hammering it, is there anything else that is common to the times that it dies? Like wet, hot, cold etc.

You said sometimes it triggers the CEL (Check Engine Light), what code does it throw?

Those will help get you better answers.

:D

is the truck bucking? i had a similiar problem. next time it throws the check engine light, you can retrieve the code by turning your key 3 times in quick succesion...if its one of these its your TPS (throttle position sensor).
P0121-TP SENSOR VOLTAGE DOES NOT AGREE WITH MAP - SRT10
P0122-THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR #1 VOLTAGE TOO LOW - SRT10
P0123-THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR #1 VOLTAGE TOO HIGH - SRT10

this is a quick fix ...dealer will just replace it.
if it throws a different code, there is a list of them and their meaning under the general discussion page...good luck

Could be a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), or spark-plugs ( the stock ones SUCK... buy NGK's).... ;)

Start there... If you still have issues, change out the 'puter. :)

Welcome to the forums...sorry to hear of you "issue" and as suggested above...pull your CEL codes from the dash to find out what she is throwing at you.

You can put your Vin # in here: http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice...recall&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm('R')
to ensure the Cam Bolt Recall was done... I am sure it is...but it's free insurance to find out.

When you pull codes you can reference them here:

TPS sounds like a pretty good start.

Welcome to the forum!! ;)

Need the CEL code...purchase an OBDII reader or swing by your local Autoparts place and have them read it for you. There is also the turn the ignition key off then on 3 times trick but doesnt always work 100% of the time.

Always does it when its cold ?

ya i would say its the TPS as well but get the code and that will be the sure tell of what is happining.

welcom and good luck.

thanks everyone for your input. do i need to change back to the stock computer then get the code or can i keep the xmetal stage 2 in and get it. it doesnt always trigger a code i just disconnect the battery and clear it and it doesnt come back. it doesnt always die either sometimes it just boggs down real close to stalling. will a dealership that doesnt sell vipers or viper rams be able to read the code, again i have a stage 2 computer in? thanks guys

You can just go to Advance Auto, Pep Boys, Autozone, Napa.... They all have code readers and will read the codes for free. :)
