I know this is going to sound a bit vague but here it goes. I was driving down a shitty road with a ton of bumps, doing about 30mph and something must have fell off. All I heard was thump thump thump, I looked in my rear view and saw nothing??? I pulled over, checked the truck, looked around on the side of the road (found nothing). The thump noise sounded kind of like something of a softer compound (my first thought was a bump stop fell off and bounced around under the truck). Now if I hit a small bump I can hear a slight rattle... WTF! So all bump stops are still there, checked exhaust.. all tight and all rubber hanger connectors are still there, all calipers and brake components are all tight and good, shocks are all fine including the 5th shock. This is sooo friggin irritating! I don't even like to drive my truck at all when I have some stupid mystery like this! If any of you guys has a clue of what to check please let me know. THANKS!!!

Your sway bar bushings take severe abuse on rough roads. Go under her bod and beat on the sway bar with your fist. Also the links can collapse as well. I'm leaning towards this area man. Usually rear sway bar but check both.

I did grab ahold of the rear sway bar and checked it well and it's fine. I grabbed the ends of the front one to the best of my ability and nothing seemed loose but now that the truck is lowered I really need to get it up on a lift to get under the front of the truck...

It can feel tight on rear sway bar but still be making that noise. Try fist bumping both sides near where links mount on both sides. I could be wrong but I e seen many With this issue and usually the rear bar.
This may sound dumb, but what about your spare? Still there? That swinging tire carrier could be making noise? We'll find it!

My spare tire is out and I checked the mechanism for the spare and that's tight too...??

Loose nut behind the wheel maybe???????

This was my first thought also. I need sway bar links on the front of my truck. You can't feel it when the truck is stationary, but you can hear it when driving.

Hmmmm.... ok. Seems like this will be the route I take next for inspection. What about the thumps? What the hell could've fallen off?

LMAO! Ya bud I wish, between work and the new house I have forgotten what the gym even looks like. Been going from work straight to the new house, working on it till about 10-11 every night, drive home, eat, shit, walk the dogs, then go to bed around 12-12:30, get up at 6 then repeat... This is getting old real quick!

The thump is probably also the front sway bar links. I can make mine thump (remember that my links need to be replaced) with the truck on a hoist. The thump happens whenever I hit a bump.

But this was loud and I can't get it to make that noise again. No exaggeration, it sounded like someone was dropping baseballs in the bed of my truck. There were a few loud "clunks" that happened really fast. The series of clunks lasted only a few seconds and will NOT replicate, but now I'm left with the rattle.

Probably a wrench left behind finally rattled loose from it's resting place! Been there......Done that.......

Hate that, lmao! Things can get trapped atop the gas tank and fall off for sure. Seems Witt his continued rattling something else is up though? :dontknow:

Is the shock on top of your axle still connected and in good shapes?

Yes sir. Haven't even pulled her back out of the garage yet to check anything further. Been crazy busy with prepping the new house getting ready for the move this Saturday.
