DRamSRT!0, here in CT we have similar smog standards as MA. We just recently overhauled the testing facilities and sent them to the private sector. Now private shops all around the state do the inspections, I believe Mass is the same but double check to make sure. When they do the emmisions testing on newer vehicles, they will hook up a computer to your diagnostic port under the dash and just run a diagnostic. You will be fine as long as you don't have a aftermarket PCM. Even in that case, you should pass so long as you have the SIMS for your rear O2 sensors. The biggest issue is the visual inspection. I figure the coffee can idea will work and even if they think its questionable, they sure as hell arent gonna cut your pipes off and check. Just tell them the cats are different because its a Viper powered Ram!! Maybe JMB Justin can make a dummy "cat" to bolt up to the mids, that would be a huge seller as most states use the diagnosic port to check vehicles now-a-days!! I'd buy a set!!
