I just started posting here as I just (2 months ago) bought my first SRT-10. Notice I said first. Pics below of #1. Well, I kinda jumped the gun like a little kid in a toy store and flat did not do my homework or inspect the truck as I should. 49,300 miles. Uses 1 qt oil per 1500 miles. Front motor on the driver’s seat is shot ($575 plus labor), oil heat gauge broken, Carfax said no wrecks, not so. $875 to rearrange/realign front bumper with new bracket. Paint is going bad (real bad), came from Florida and looks like it was never garaged. (7-8K for a proper paint job). I started shopping. Found an ’05 quad just like the one I have, color and all, less the tonneau cover and custom decals and wifie steps (only 15,000 miles). Here are the questions:
1. I really must have a tonneau cover to protect tools and guns (I do a lot of gun trading). The truck has the wing but no cover and I want a solid cover that I can still use the wing. I am trading the #1 so can’t steal the cover. Really should have removed it before the dealer saw it. Suggestions?
2. Best looking nerf bars and where to get them?
3. Are all chrome handles glue on over the original?
4. Last but most important----I intend to drive this truck, every day. I did not buy it to fondle but to use. What are the most modifications I can do and keep it drivable? I am not intending to forge the engine just get the most power and efficiency with the stock engine.
Any help would be most appreciated. I am too old and impatient to do the mods myself so may need someone in the Dallas or Houston area to do the work.

I would get a throttle body( I think jtsvp.com's makes the most power) get a k&n filter for stock intake. Get rid off your cats. Get an sct tuner. And if you want to spend the money get some long tube headers ( I like my belangers ) and nitrous ( jmbperformance.com ) That's a pretty bad truck with those upgrades and totally driveble.

without showing too much ignorance, what is nitrous?
thanks for the rest and I will start as soon as it is in the stable.

nitrous oxiden. A colorless, sweet-tasting gas, N2O, used as a mild anesthetic in dentistry and surgery.

Laughing gas????? is that for the engine or driver? LOL :)
Does this gas run constantly? Where might I find info as to exactly what it does?
Thanks a bunch. i stopped working on engines when they did away with points and condensers. '48 Willis jeep was the last I did a ring and bearing insert job on so tells ya why I'm a little shy on the working of these oh so sweet trucks. Need all the help I can get.

For steps look up amp research they are power steps that hide when the door is closed and pop out when the door is opened

Both but it makes the truck go zoom zoom when applied to the motor in short bursts .. but if done wrong also goes boom boom .. lol

you can add anywhere from 50hp to 1000hp in nitrous..

But in reality stock block 100/150hp is safe.. for a quick 13 seconds of fun at a time..

how can you get rid of the cats? thought they were needed to get state inspected. the belangers look to have cats. do I just get the headers and then what behind them?

Depends if you are in Dallas county or other sniffing city. Waco doesn't have that crap ;)
You always keep a good buddy that does inspections, lol

It seems to me that maybe you should have bought a ford ranger instead of a 500 hp viper truck! You wont get much fuel mileage with this vehicle, parts are very expensive, as well as fuel! it wont look very pretty with nerf bars, the 22" tires can get expensive.

I get 19mpg now and its only going to get better after Friday when I get tuned. Not bad for a 5000 pound truck I drive like a go cart. It can be done is all I'm saying if that's what he is into.

How are you getting 19 mpg? The best Ive ever got was 17, going 55 on flat land with no wind.

I remeber pullin 15mpg out of my iron 8.0 quite a few times tbh. And I live in a vally so flat ground is scarce.

The roe is crazy efficient. I was shocked. I get 19 mpg driving hard and when the boost comes in it reads 10.0 air fuel.

19 calculating it by hand or 19 on the overhead, because the larger injectors throw the overhead off. Lovethistruck's roe truck said 19-20 on the overhead but was really like 14-15

I've tracked the milage for every tank of fuel since I got my truck. My overhead typically reads within .2 MPG of what I am actually getting. **For the record, I do NOT have a Roe**
