Hit the track tonight, and it hit back. Gernaded the rear end :(. FCUK, FCUK, FcUK, SIHT, SHIT, SIHT...

After my 3rd pass heard a pop, like I run over a glass bottle and broke it. Pulled over to the side of the staging lane got my flashlight checked underneath the truck everything looked ok no leaks. Shrugged it off and lowered the tire psi by 2 1/2 lbs. Lined up again did my burn out no problem, staged when the light went green to rear end went boom, and the truck didn't move. I was able to put it in reverse swap out the slicks to the stockers and barely made it home. Toasted spider gears more likely than not considering it still moves.

So if anyone have a good line on some cryoed spider gears I'm in the market. I placed a couple of calls tonight in hopes of locating some fairly quickly. I might also up grade to 4:56 since the rearend in going to be apart.

Well, that pretty much sucks.:( 4.88s might be a bit much with the SC:dontknow: . If you go with 4.56s, let me know how it feels. I was thinking of doing it on mine

That Sux!
I was going to say (based on topic header) "I hope you didn't hit the track to hard :D ", but I guess you did. Hope you get fixed soon.

Man those M&H slicks bite really, really hard. I figured it was just a matter of time before I blew up the the spiders.

I got a couple of calls out for some cryoed spiders and hope to have her fixed up by the end of next week. I'll keep you guys posted if I decide to switch off to 4:56's. No guarantees $$$ tight right now so unless I get a smokin deal its probably not going to happen.

Talk to Stinker about the DTS rear end. Go to the 4:56 get cyroed gears, go to the 35 spline Strange axle with Wilwood rotors and calipers. You will have a bullet proof rear end, be able to run 15 inch slicks and save about 100 lbs.

I have an extra set of the Wilwood calipers if you need them.

alex,

sorry to hear bout that! good luck with fixin her up. call george or mickey they might have a hook up or two..........

Do you have a line lock? I almost sure that when you were doing your burnout and holding the brake that you actually held one of the rear wheels which cause the failure of the spider gears if thats what failed,,, Pull the cover and inspect, you might have just damaged the clutches and not all that you think

No, I don't have a line lock. Didn't realize it when it happened but I felt it when on of the spiders let go during my 3rd burnout. I did pull the cover off tonight and the spiders and the cluthes will need to be replaced as well. I'll take some pics once I pull the pumpkin out to show you guys the carnage.

Spiders are ordered and are being cryoed. Thanks a million Ken (NBT).

I'll keep you guys posted on any new develpments.

Starting a new thread called "Toasted Spider Gears". This will show you what slicks do to your stock rearend. Also will give you some info on how to pull the gears out.
