Should I go with a big LED tv, a projector or what? I dont wanna get stupid expensive with a projector. I dont know much about them, so I dont know what to look for. Is the picture as good as LCD/LED's? I would use this to watch movies of course, and play xbox and video games. I know the screens for projectors are pricey for good ones and I am looking to spend around 5K for the setup. So help me out guys..pros, cons, etc. Thanks.

LED is the way to go. Anything over 42-46 in be sure to get 240hz especially since you will be gaming.

Cheaper but old school..get an LED if you want to do it right..
I have seen some really nice projector set ups, 120" screen, Push the button on the wall, Screen comes out of the ceiling, lights dim, Window shades go down. Just all in what you like i guess. Most high end stuff now are the LEDs, 240hz for action, And gaming.

i was looking at led tvs and it looked "laggy" to me i think its to new technology. no doubt it will get better though

Why LED and not plasma?

D

I thought plasma's had about a seven year life span at most, this may have improved. I saw something in Popular Science that said the next generation are as thin as a credit card and will make plasma and led look like black and white...coming soon and about 10k for small tv

Tim when I looked for a TV last year I was told the Plasma was as good as the LED but would burn out much sooner....I think plasmas are being phased out..

Plasma is old tech. And high power consumption compared to LED, Although you can get a killer deal on plasmas right now. I think the new stuff will be 3-D.

Thanks, guys......

The TV jungle has become a fkn joke to me..... I splurged on a nice 61 inch Samsung for my desert house...... It was nice and I got a great deal from Crutchfield.

At the time Plasma was the top of the food chain, or so I was told... I ended up with an LCD projector..... It looked good to me.... once I got it set up with the DIRECTv HiDef receivers and shit.... But now plasma is history and we have a brand new technology that's as thin as a fkn potato chip....

I say BFD............

In my house in Oceanside I still have an old 36inch CRT that looks fine to me. I can see everything crytal clear and the fkn thing will probably run for 25 years.... I've never burned out a CRT- EVER..... In fact I still have the little 19inch that Lynette and I bought when we started over in 1985... It still has a great picture and just keeps on running..... I think I'll put it in the fkn John.....

All this high dollar (10 grand ) TV shit is for the birds.... I quit... Cancel my rhumba lesson.........

Crutchfield has some excellent deals on all kinds'a home theatre shit.

Plus they have free tech support and free delivery, last time I looked anyway....

Plasma is still the way to go, if you dont care about power consumption. The burning out in 5-7 years is BS. You'd have to have the TV on 10 hours a day and even then it would take about 20 years to reach the half-life of todays plasmas. If you're going to be viewing straight on, no angle, then you'll aboslutely love the LED. When viewing angles come into play you'll have washout with LED/LCD. ANd yes 120 and 240 will help with motion lag. But, they will usually introduce unwanted artifacts into the picture. However, they are getting much better with this. So again, for me, I'll take a plasma technology any day of the week.:)

ive got the 70 in. sony 1080 and i love it. clear as a bell. warranty is great too.
