HOOFAH!

theres something about these trucks in the rain. i was coming back from the pistions/ rocket game with the cruise set when it started raining. i had the cruise set at 80 when this dumba** in a grand prix pulls up beside of me and keeps flooring it. i was going to be a dumba** myself and slam on the brake. well that didnt work i hit the gas. immediately the rear broke loose and did a 90 turn toward the concrete of an overpass. at this point my wife woke up to oh shit!!! and thank god i did a tony stewart dirt track and got it back straight. needless to say the guy in the grand prix i think dirtied himself along with my wife. while i did 60 mph in the slow lane the rest of the night back to south bend. and can you believe it my wife didnt even sleep the rest of the way home....

These trucks on the stock tires will hydroplane on week old dry spit. I never use the Cruise Control in the rain. And believe me, we do get rain occasionally here in Western Washington.

What happens is if you hydroplane with the cruise on is the cruise system cannot react quickly enough when it breaks loose, so the rpm's/speed will jump for a second or two and cause you to lose control.

Have your tires siped... It might help a little. :dontknow: I think I am going for the new Hankook Ventus tires when these stockers are done.

Nope it's just 500hp on wet ground. Siped no siped don't matter!!:D

Hydroplaning has nothing to do with how much HP you have. It's related to the tires ability to squeeze the water our from under the tire. At this the stock tires suck the big one.

mine are almost done. do you have a link to those tires or more info on them?

Congrats on the recovery.
Years ago I fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road. I over corrected and 360'd the car. I got lucky and came out of it with no damage. So I understand the adrenalin moment you felt.

My tires are sipped. I had them done a few weeks ago because of the ice and snow. Made a tremendous difference.
I have not really noticed a difference in the wet though. I generally drive fairly conservative in the wet, so I don't break traction unintentionally.
As for the intentional traction breaking, we have enough power to break free sipped or not. All in all, in this area (Western WA), I will continue to have my tires sipped.

Enjoy the Ride
