after having my truck for a few months now and reading that i'm basically at my peak power for stock internals, how safely is it to run higher octane like 100+ at the track? will it make that big of a difference in power to where i need to worry about the internals of the engine? thanks

well i'm running the paxton supercharger, belanger headers, hi flow cats, and lower tstat. i am making 607hp and 590ft-lbs to the rear wheels.

Your not maxed out...

I was up to almost 700rwhp for 1.5 years, and 10# boost, now that's maxed :D Truck is still running strong 2 years later with new owner. It all comes down to how its tuned, with a little luck on the trucks stock internals ;)

I got about 15-20rwhp with the added octane. Higher octane only alows for more power because of the added timing benifits. Remeber, more isnt always better with timing, too much timing and your loosing power, too little and your loosing. Their is so much more then just add octane and your good. Along with timing maps comes fuel tables, hand in hand they produce added power if the cylinder permits the additional pressure and heat.

Ok so since my truck was tuned on 91 I should stick with 91 unless I get a tuner that has a tune for higher octane?

Pretty much, running any higher will not really benefit you unless you want the added security / protection from ore-ignition. I would run high octane if I was going to the track even with a 91 tune. With heatsoak, high temps, and everything combined, detonation chances will increase. So the high octane with help with safety.

Be sure to never go less than 91!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey RedSrt007 who did your tuning?

If you don't have water/meth injection this would be a good time to install and save you some $$ from having to buy 100+ octane at the track. A lot a benefit to running meth.

DC did my baseline tune, and I then made 2 more tunes, a Track race tune, and a conservative DD tune. Both of those 2 were 9-10#s of boost w/ water meth. I made a DD tune for Jrgnd, and he has been running strong for 3 years solid with his Paxton w/ stock internals. I tuned the TT system from the ground-up w/ the Vec on the viper, running 10-11#'s also stock internals for over 2 years and 25k miles. I do believe these trucks will live w/ 9-10lbs, but they need to be DRIVEN correctly, and tuned properly.
