so last weekend i did the very first step in building my first hand built house. its advice time.

here is the problem. i want to do something rarely done anymore. i want a courtyard in the middle of the house. its going to have a pool in it, and will be glassed in and heated. i cannot decide on the shape.

i will either do a square build house, with square center, or a C shape house.

any input?

C shaped with a guest house to close in the other side.

take something like this...make the balcony a walkway (this is a multiple story floorplan, have a garage/carriage house/mother-in-law suite to the left, slightly offset, with a covered walkway attached to the walkway(balcony in this view), eliminate the foyer stairs, and have archways instead...

i like the glass pool idea, i think that is a bit beyond my abilities, thou i was planing an in-wall fish tank, like 1200gal...

i have been leaning for the C shape because i want to do a edgeless pool and on the other side of the glass would be the pond.

Either would be nice,I've always wanted to do a round one with a courtyard in the middle ,but the easiest by far would be up build a square one.And easier means waaaay cheaper ,and still be the nads:rock:

We need loads of picks if ya do this mate

do it little by little and see how long it takes to get the county to assess you...but don't cut down too many trees...they do fly-overs around here:mad:

as long as it is not finished there are no taxes on it. only cutting down one tree, the largest on the property, its going 2 miles down the road to the mill to be my main beam....
