This cat is a cross between a lion and a tiger...

They call them ligers... There are only a few and they occur exclusively in captivity.

This guy's name is Hercules and he weighs about 1000 lbs.

He is the unintentional result of two enormous big cats living close together at the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, in Miami , Florida, and already dwarfs both his parents...

Big boy, eh?

We had one at the Zoo here in Salt Lake, Beautiful animals
 
Apparently they don't occur in nature because most tigers are in Asia and most lions are in Africa. When they do meet up they usually try to kill each other, not mate....

So, the fact that they were both part of a game preserve.. it happened.

This cat is immense.......

the bad part is they will almost never mate ,,,lions dont like them and tigers hate them too ,,,makes for a lonly pussy:D
