what should i be looking at that are known problems on these trucks?
my research says only common problem is a spun barring. and that's not in the test drive. is there a known rust point?

and a few general questions...
is it ok to tap the rev limiter in this truck?
(in my work honda i hit it every gear all day with 200k on the clock)

how does the limited slip work i CAN go sideways in this truck right? (my friends one wheel peal ford cannot.)

can i drop the clutch in 2nd and really burn up $300 tires? or will the clutch not take that.

has anyone ever modded there truck to go 200? i estimate it would only take 600 more hp. (using the quad to double rule.)

well i will be there by 3pm so i hope for a quickish answer. thanks.

You can and will go sideways, sometimes when you least expect it, with bad results!

You can definitely dump the clutch in 2nd and smoke $300 tires! (At least once!;))

I wouldn't test the rev limiter! There is plenty of power down low, no real need to get too far above 5.5K RPMs IMO.

200 will be tough, because above 150 mph this thing is like a sheet of plywood in the wind!

Look for loose bolts on the balancer.

No real rust problems that I have ever seen. Then again, most people don't drive these in the rain. I have 45K on mine, and don't see any rust anywhere...

Good luck and be safe!

I bet it is a RC..;)

Glad to see that you have a firm grasp of the obvious Larry! :D

you want to look for oil leaks around the rear main seal and oil cooler lines. check out the steering wheel. there are starting to blister and peel. look it over good for aftermarket parts.

both tires will spin. if they dont thats a problem.

Clutch is the weak point in this truck. Expect to replace factory slave with upgraded viper slave and centerforce or other clutch. 04 models will feel slower from a stop due to the 4.10 gearing. 05/06 have 4.56 gearing. Sideways is easy in this truck.......I know a guy whom did it during a test drive and caused $8k in damage to his future truck! True story!!! No reason to buy one with high mileage as there are many out there with low miles on them.

Truck gets 10 mpg on average, $100 oil changes, costs a lot to maintain and will never do 200 mph......but....will be the most fun vehicle you will ever own.

with you, "it can never be done". so sure are you.

If you plan to do 200 in this truck, I hope you have VERY deep pockets, and a lot of room!

Might need to do some body work too... Chopped and Channeled comes to mind...

Whats with people (nothing personal;) ) with asking questions and not giving all of the information needed for the right answer. Then they dont post up when questions are asked of him. (like i said nothing personal) I just have noticed that alot! It feels to me like if someone comes up to you and asks you a question, turns around and walks away and leaves you talking. I donno...just my 02 and yes someone did pee in my cheerios this morning!:D

Edit: Sorry looks like my eyes decided to skip post #13.

Sorry but that is way far from being a Dakota anymore!:D Its bad ass tho!

it would be nice to knock a diesel off the top spot
that 1000hp kit should do it, or maybe the 1300 kit?
