Several months ago I bought 2 hi-flow cats and a Roe muffler (This one http://www.roeracing.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=79&idproduct=222 ). Phil (Big Asp) was nice enough to give me his tips off his truck. So I have had these parts just sitting around collecting dust since June. Well today I had the hi-flows, muffler and tips put on. My truck is now half as quiet and I can't really hear the turbo whine. Now it is more like a building Whosh sound. One thing I was not expecting is my A/F is leaner and my boost is steadier. Under boost I was seeing 10.0 on my AF. Now I'm 10.5-11.0 and my boost is steady at 4-5 psi with spikes on the shift like normal.

So does better airflow help the A/F? It appears to have leaned it out.

Does the better airflow help with my boost? It appears to have made it more steady or now the hi-flow are less restrictive so it is harder for the turbo to build boost. Any ideas?

Yes, it the AEM.

You know it is hard to explain because the air flows from the cats, through the turbo and then through the muffler. I will try to get a sound clip for you my friend.

It came off when I got the STS last year. It's long gone now but I really liked the sound of the borla.

From what I understand Borla is probably the best free flowing cat back available. I had it on my Hemi and really liked the sound of it. I'd just assume put a muffler on using the existing equipment. For me, that's all I need. At this point anyways...

I'm getting used to it. Without the muffler it was loud as shi*t. It was really too loud in the cab when you were driving down the highway. But you could really hear the turbo. It sounded like a jet engine. Now it is much quieter and I swear it seems like it is running smoother. I need to drive it a few days and see how much I can hear the turbo.

The muffler bearing got stuck. Since the muffler is new I still need to break it in and keep an eye on the fluid level. Nothing worse then the bearing sticking in the muffler. Well I guess loose bearing are bad also. My Borla never had a problem with the bearings. I will keep my eye on these.

I thought Roe used titanium M.B.'s.....?...they shouldn't be sticking...are they in backward....?

I think the problem was having the muffler sit around for 4 months prior to installing it. You know I didn't even look at the bearings prior to the install. I think once they get broke in a little they will be OK. I doubt they are in backwards since I drove all the way home no problem. The above clip was after it cooled down.

Your suppose to blow into the pipe to make sure the bearings aren't bound up before you put the muffler on.... I thought everybody knew this? :dontknow:

Dude I'm not going to blow into the muffler. The install guy used compressed air and he checked it before and after to make sure there wasn't anything in it. I hope.
