i got arrested for what you may ask?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but in Texas you can be arrested and taken to jail for anything except speeding.....and even then 25+ can possibly put you behind bars.

Essentially some officers don't really care if you beat the charges for the reasons they put the bracelets on you....it's just the fact that they get off on the fact that you have to get bailed out, hire a lawyer and take a day off work to prove your innocence. {Part of the POWER GAME}

I was arrested for dark smoked tail lights and limo tint on one of my rides a few years ago. :argh: {See above paragraph}

I can't believe I'm wasting my precious hours of sleep to discuss this. :argh:

You are not wasting your time. Thanks for your input!

I am the flaming liberal here...duh...drive a Volvo and am a professor...

But the first thing I say to a police officer that pulls me over is: "I'm embarrassed that I may have done something stupid!" And in the next breath, I say "if you want to search me or the vehicle you have my agreement to a consent search." My daughter (the criminal defense lawyer) hates that I am willing to do that.

Sorry, but I want the man with the heater on his hip to be as calm and non-stressed as he can be. Just my opinion...and I almost never get stopped, and when I do...I am contrite and cooperative...I prefer to pick my battles...and it is never with a sworn officer...that is what lawyers do.

Is this directed at me?

The so called Blue wall of silence is far more myth than reality.

The fact is that 95%+ of the time when a bad cop commits some act of abuse there are no other cops around to witness the act. Also, the same rules of evidence that allow a child molester to go free on some technicality apply to cops, and when you take into consideration the high number of proven false accusations filed against officers; it makes it difficult to weed out the bad apples. ie; most people know where there are drug dealers in their communities but there is a huge difference in KNOWING something and being able to PROOVE something. Even if you were at the scene of an alleged incident doesn't mean that you observed or your attention was focused on the abusive act to the point that you could give admissible testimony against the accused officer.

There are many LEO's including myself who despised bad cops because there is nothing positive that comes from abusing your authority, it simply puts a foul stain on the entire profession.

I got pulled over tonight for running a red light by a FWC (Game Warden). My excuse was I was watching the state trooper run the stop sign and was wondering what he was doing. I didn't get a ticket.
