Does the shifter realy help??? I have an 06 and Irealy dont have a problem hitting 3rd. So would the shifter help me??? Does anyone have any pics of the shifter in an 06 ?? I dont know what I would do with out this web site!!!LOL EVERYONE HERE IS SO NICE:rock: :rock: :rock: :
 
Well, from what I have tested, a shifter and transmission fluid change will help A LOT. Change out the fluid to either Valvoline synchromesh or Mobil/Redline ATF full synthetic, top it off with a shifter, and you will be screaming through the gears :D

Boomer's GenIV shifter is the best mod you can do to your truck, besides a blower. I put the RedLine fluid in my truck, and Royal Purple in my Viper and like the Royal Purple better. Will change the truck to the RP also.
 
If you are not missing third now, don't do it. But most of us get to the point where we do miss third...if you do it once you will want the gen IV from Boomer.
 
Wizzy has one in his 06, but his been MIA for a while now.

My truck would not want to downshift from day one. Boomers gen 1 took that problem away as well as making the 2,3 shift way way better.

Were can I get my transmissin fluid changed at? Sometimes my truck wont go in a lower gear when driving is that normal ? Will the shifter help with that? I am new to this so I was going to go with the shifter and now the tranny fluid next. Then a stage 2 pcm after that I would go with the maganflow cat back. One more ??? when i do the exhaust should I cut or gut the cats? I dont want to void my warranty!!!!THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP
 
You can change your trans fluid yourself there is a sticky somewhere or maybe its in the DIY section...or any place that changes fluids...if you take it to the dealer for the change to Mobil 1 SYN ATF they will probably give you a hard time and they could cause you some warantee problems.

You should delete your cats. That will not void your warantee...but a tempermental service manager could cause you some trouble. The base line is, if the mod causes the problem, then you are in trouble...but in my experience, a good service manager will work with you.

Whats better B&M or the x-meatal??? I can buy B&M for around 250. Can I use my factory shaft that has hurst onto it with the knob??
 
I think a good guide line is that you get what you pay for...

Ask Boomer if he will still give you the lowering kit/shifter deal!

Just went through the "transmission fluid change out" in a thread in the DIY section,very detailed, pictures included. It is very helpful if you choose to do it yourself. I have the redline 4d ATF on the way . :)
 
Just a minute...if you want it quiet, why do you want a Viper engine? I'm afraid you are going to start asking about the best way to get better mpg...

Nawwww, no one would ask that...

I've got the B&M. I'm happy with it. It's better than the stock shifter. Just couldn't spend $600 on the X-Metal. Maybe someday.

I love my shifter , nails every gear no prob. about the cost well like the saying gos YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR , u what the best in anything it will cost you. BUT WELL WORTH IT . x-metal gen IV
