Ok, working on the interior. Removed the factory seatbelts. Apparently, these seatbelts have a plug-in that is for the side curtain airbags. My airbag light is on and wont go off. Anyone know how to plug them in and make them work, without the factory seatbelts? Also with the seatbelts removed, the seatbelt light stays on, any way to eliminate this? thanks for any help

pretty good...close enough to drive the truck again...hope to have the console done by the weekend, but dont know yet

Mutt, intuitively you should be able to jumper some combination of wires in that plug to simulate (or is it stimulate...) anyway you should be able to trick the plug into thinking the seat belts are connected since the seat beats have no power etc, there has to be a way to do this. That said, I wouldn't have a clue which wire(s) to jumper together. How many wires are in that plug? Are they power or ground or both? If there's only 2-3 I'd try to figure it out by process of elimination, the worst thing that should happed would be a blown fuse, no? Maybe one of our wiring geniouses can look at the skizmatic and figure it out, or at least narrow the combinations down?

thanks..i believe its only 2 wires and i was going to jump them, but was afraid the air bags would blow. between the airbag light, the seat belt light and the gps i guess you can figure electrical is not my strong point

Well, other need to chime in here, but I don't see how they'd blow. If you have an ohm meter, measure the seat belt side of the harness and see if you have a direct short, IE zero ohms, if you do, then you should be able to jumper the two directly. If there's a slight amount of resistance, IE 15 ohms lets say, you should be able to go get a 15 ohm resistor at radiot shack use it for the jumper, and viola, problem solved.

Does that make any sense? Anyone have a better idea?

you can read in the owners manual under the seat belt section and it tells you how to turn the bell off, but not the light, i did that b/c i hate the bell and cant stand to wear seat belts. dont know if this helps.as far as the airbag light i dont know, you may have to take it to a dealer and let them hook it up worst case scenario.

k for everyone that has the factory belts, but hate the noise and light, all you have to do is plug the middle belt into it. problem solved. as far as the seatbelt on yours mutt, you can stick a paperclip in between the 2 wires in the connector, and it will bypass it. as far as the airbags go, get a wire diagram and you should see if you can bypass that too

Steps to get rid of the dinging of the seat belt light.

get put you deat belt on and turn the key on, then wait 15 secs and un plug and plug in the seat belt 3 times then turn the ignition off. when you turn the the truck off it will ding once to tell you it has been programed.

There are all sorts of things you can do, like the honk when you press lock, and the fact that only one door unlocks when you hit the button. If yall want to know haw to do that i can tell you..

Mutt,

I have the same problem with the airbag light. Please let me know if you find a remedy.

Thanks,
Jeff

Is there a Cliff's Notes version somewhere of all that's doable?

Mutt, the bags shouldn't blow if you jump that connection. There has to be a side impact sensor mounted on the truck somewhere that would blow the side bags.

Dug up the Factory wiring diagrams.....

figured it all out. there are airbag triggers located on the stock seatbelt mounts. removed the triggers and plugged them back in, airbag lights are out. as for the seatbelt lights, i just took the plug in and crossed the 2 leads inside and the lights go out. thanks to everyone who posted up! you guys rock
