Idle hanging

Just got back from a 400 mile trip. Noticed that more and more latley that when I pull up to a red light the idle hangs at 1500-2k for a bit and then drops. I can also rev it a bit and drops.
I have an Xmetal TB and tuning by Torrie.
Any ideas? I also have a stock TB body in the garage. Think if I put this on it will solve my problem, or is something else going on? :dontknow:
 
May just need to clean the throttle throat around the blade...stuff builds up and can cause the blade to hang up and not close or close slow.....can be other things too...
 
I say try what Larry recommended first. If not, disconnect the battery for 10 min. That will reset the adaptation values.
 
What should I clean it with? Just a TB cleaner while it is still on the truck?
 
I remember the service mgr at my dealer saying this was a common problem on all Mopars with TBs...he sprayed a cleaner in the TB but I dont know what is was.....I know it cleared a problem on one vehicle I saw them do it to...
 
Shouldn't the catch can sorta solve this issue? :dontknow:
 
Mine is doing the same thing.

I think mine might be a slight vacuum leak. If remember right my boost gauge used to read -20 while idling at 650 rpm now it is idling at 1200 rpm and -15 psi.

IT WILL NEVER WORK RIGHT...and this is why, our intake manifold is not made for a SINGLE-blade T/B.

You have to have a venturi either in the T/B or in the manifold itself as "Trainman" does.

To do that to your manifold is about $700.00/bucks. (For the most part undetectable at the Race Track)

Or go back to a dual-blade applcation... BBK now makes a dual-blade 67mm T/B for our Trucks.

Stock is a dual-blade 65mm.

I've got THREE T/B's setting on the shelf right now in my garage, I know of what I speak.....

Many on here have single blades with no problem....I have the Roe TB and no idle problems but I asume you are referring to stock intakes....but again a lot here run single blades with stock intakes.....

I just got off the phone earlier tonight with tony. Mine has been doing that after the first couple hundred miles on my bbk throttle body.
 
Why do you need a "venturi" in the trottle body or the intake? this is a fuel injected engine so there is no need to "suck" fuel into the intake from a carb, wich is what the venturi will do in a carb? so why is it needed in this set up? I found the more often then not if the tb blade is not "hanging" then the IAC "idle air control" motor is at fault, if the Idle hangs then slowly returns to normal and there is no sign of the blade sticking, then its the IAC that is causing it, it works by bypassing a small amount or air past the TB blade, there by controlling the idle without having to physically move the throttle..

Then go pay someone to do the simple task of cleaning your TB. Since doing it yourself would mean you were being a slave, according to you. Man, knowing you, that TB must be caked with carbon build-up.
 
I sent my BBK back because it did this non stop ,,i also had a problem with my xmetal single blade doing this ,,,the xmetal one was dragging ,,had to remove and file down one side of blade just a hair ,,

pull your TB off,, clean it real good ,,and hold it up to the light and see if you see any drag marks right were the shaft and blades meet up ,carbon will build up there and if it is like mine was youll see a few tiny drag marks there ,,i took some 1000 grit and had to pull the single blade out and clean it once since taliban dan fixed mine up ..

i had to put my xmetal one back in cause the BBk did this all the time ,,,since it was new and under warrenty they had me return it :dontknow: funny part was it only did it after driving for an hour or so ,,when cold it did not do it ,,i think when the metal got hot it expanded making it tight and start to drag and stick ,,so the comment on it HAS to be a duel blade is false :itsme:
 
Ironhead, that seems to be my issue also. On quick trips down the street it's fine. Long trips (over 10 min maybe) is when I start to see it.
