noticed a faint squeak under the hood....i think its the top serp idler???....i checked my crank pulley bolt when i got it but never lock tighted it....that top idler known to squeal??...also could someone tell me where the connectors are at for the tach circut mine is intermitent from time to time and id like to check the connectors....:D:rock::D

The loose crank pulley bolt is more common for the 2004 trucks. The idler pulley squeak is common. I can fax you some diagnostic info. if you like.

:dontknow:The tach works most of the time- just acts up once in a while...thats why i was thinking maybee a prob with a connector:dontknow:

Yeah sometimes its lazy other times dosent work at all???:dontknow:

I have a bunch of info I can fax over for you if you'd like. It could be an intermittent cam sensor problem because that's where your tach gets its signal from. Connector number 1 on pcm, pin 18 is the cmp signal, dark blue / gray wire.

I will get you the fax number at work thanks!!!

Just out of curiosity, you didn't change the cam sensor recently did you?

Nope havent done anything....why do they act up if you get em too tight?

If you don't set the gap between the sensor and the gear properly if can damage the end of the sensor. I would think you would experience an engine running issue as well if it were a cam sensor problem. :dontknow:

Yeah thats exactly why i was thinking something simple like a loose or dirty connector

I had the fight with the squeek for the longest time. First time I changed the belt because 1.) I couldn't get the idler off and 2.) A few guys on here said to try it first. It worked for a month and then it came back. So I switched the idler and tensioner and belt worked for a few months then came back. Then my p/s pump exploded hahaha

New belt and idler is should take 10-15 minutes top to change if that.
