This either goes in here or the General discussions threads.

I bought my 10 with only 1 key. It was kind of bent but has always worked.

Lately I have not been able to turn the ignition at all when I put the key in.

I went and paid the $1,000,000 plus tax for a new key from dodge and I am having the same problem.

I spent 30 minutes today trying to get the key to turn, I have no idea what it is and I am hoping that i dont need to swap out ignition systems. I did get it go turn eventually and started right up and went home.

There was a thread on here years ago about how to install the chip out of a key in the steering column so a regular key (non-chipped) could be used. I've thought about doing that on my truck.

My 06 also came with just 1 key (what the hell is wrong with people?) I bought 2 blanks with fobs for $70.00 for the pair and 1 blank Chippped key for $14.00 on Ebay.

Took it to the Stealer and he programmed the two Fobs for the alarm, all three chips in the keys & Cut all three keys for $65.00

He said they would do the max allowable for the truck (6 or 8 I think) for the same price.

i just have a local store ACE hardware and they can duplicate the key including the chip hell even have an aftermarket remote. remote and key cost me i think 60 bucks

If you spent 30 minutes trying to turn a stuck key, you have more problems than the tumbler. Thats borderline mental retardation.

I went to A-1 and he said that he could program it but that I needed to get the program code from the dealer so that he could do it.

You have to duck!!!
Duck? I have a Ducati? Yes I do........

they just took my hey and read the info off it and programmed the new key took about 10 minutes maybe.

When the truck was sold new there was a tag with the key set that said "DO NOT LOSE THIS TAG" which most owners promptly lost. Well that tag has a four or five digit code on it. If you go to a key cutter who has the right key cutting equipment he can use that code to program a new key for you. If he has the reader he can scan the code from the key and make a replacement. Where I live there was only one guy with the right machine but he went out of business. So I had to go to the Stealer and they take the VIN and look up the code on the corporate computer. Punch it into there equipment and make a shiny new key.
