Illegals Arrested in Iowa

You are harsh...

But there is a major error in your post...

Please, I think this is still the case, it's been a few years since I was a CEO, but the I-9 forms can not be kept in the personnel file of the employee!!!!!

I-9's must be kept in a seperate file away from the personnel file. This is to be sure that personnel decisions are not made based on nationality, race, or anything like that...some one please correct me if that has changed in the past few years.

I'm not sure if it is REQUIRED to keep the form separate from other personnel files... But, I do think it is good practice. If only to keep hiring personnel honest in the process, and only give them the info they NEED to hire a new worker.

Here is a link to the I-9 form and instructions:

In Arizona at the first of this year it was made illegal for employers to hire undocumented workers and there is an electronic verification required on all new hires. So, what you guys say should happen has begun one State at a time. It's a shame our federal government doesn't have the balls to do enforce this and the individual States are left to make a stand. At first, I thought this was bad for AZ because we just sent our illegals to other states. But then I realized that those vacated jobs will be filled by citizens and thus help the AZ economy. With the slowing economy (read recession), this was the perfect move at the perfect time for Arizona. All the unemployed construction workers now have jobs to fill that were vacated by illegals!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Arizona!
Yeah and all the Lazy Ass white people could go pick cotton and fruit too.....Oh what you mean there is no line for that job  and your right there has been a massive Boom in the housing industry as well lately  Then there is the prestigious Janitorial jobs that white trash clamors for...and a very sharp increase in white gardeners and Dishwashers in recent years. I see white people shaking in their white collars and looking over their shoulders for the next invasions of migrant workers that will soon take over the Intel community.......

This country was built on the backs of immigrants and the blood of slaves. I don't like Illegal Immigration either....But I can't ever recall getting beat out in an interview for any job I have ever applied for by an Illegal.....Have you ?
You must be Lou Dobbs Love child :D :p

The point Mike, is that if wages for hard labor are raised sufficiently due to lack of a labor force, there will be legal people who will want those jobs. We will all pay, but there is a level of pay at which a job becomes attractive...landscaping, picking vegetables, cleaning houses...they all have their price point.

We have a wonderful woman that cleans our home that has a full-time position with Cardinal Health Care. She is a single parent of two girls and she works Saturday and Sunday mornings for us to earn enough to send both of her children to private schools. We pay her 30 dollars an hour for ten hours of work each weekend. She is employed as an independent contractor. She is trust worthy, prompt, and willing to do whatever needs to be done to help us. She feeds and helps "the Moms" when we are not here, and is willing to take vacation time from her full-time position to stay with our Mothers when we are traveling. She is willing to help when we entertain, and has even volunteered to help with yard work.

Employers will need to review the way they compensate employees, and find a way to motivate people to seek the positions they need to produce their products or services. And we as consumers will have to decide if the price charged for the products or services is justified and if we are willing to pay the price...e.g. the price of fuel these days....some are finding alternatives, some just pay, others find ways to lessen the impact. It is just economics, with a dose of politics and some moral fiber that drive the system.

well i don't live in your country " thankfully" I'm Canadian as u all should know by now lol.. but i don't see what the big deal is with this illegal alien bit... if they are working hard and trying to gain legal status i think its all good... now if there doing acts of violence steeling etc.. then yes remove them.. but hey if they are working hard just like the next guy.... i say its all good.. let em stay...

Holy SHIT!!!! .... Say, Prof... If anything were to happen to said "maid"... I would be more than willing to move back up north and take over. :dontknow:  ..... What is her name and address again??  (doing math in head....................... YEP! That's more than I make a month! :nurse: )

But she only gets ten hours a week at that rate. We pay for her trustworthiness, competence, and ability to cope with the issues that arise with the Mothers...when we are out of town.

It's kind of like consulting...I usually charge $300 an hour...but I have never had a 40 hour week.

Seeing as how I only made $375 this week (net), and after bills, had just enough money to buy this pint of Makers Mark I'm sippin' on...... That would be a welcome change. :dontknow:  I KNOW rent up "north" is less than $1600/mo that I'm paying right now!

Who knows... you might even be able to work that Finished Basement into the deal. ;)

:p

Just got a "bunk" (new word for Prof) of ten foot 2X4's delivered...now I have to get them into the basement. By the way...lumber is dirt cheap these days.

There are bigger problems than their status as illegal. They use the health care systems, clog emergency rooms, and send their kids to our schools... all for free since they don't pay taxes. In states with a large illegal population this is a huge burden w/ hospitals going broke etc.

Also there are some big issues with crime within the illegal community. From petty theft type things (breaking into cars etc.) not having insurance on vehicles they drive and then driving drunk/accidents, all the way to violent gangs. I used to live in a town with lots of illegals and the hispanic gangs were extremely violent.

There are many who work hard and are trying to make a better life for their family, but unfortunately there are many others who have no interest in becoming citizens or paying anything into the pot that they take from. I'm not trying to single out a particular group but hispanics seem to be the worst offenders when it comes to extorting the system and crime.

There needs to be stiffer penalties on those who employ illegals and when they bust an illegal for breaking a law, no matter how small, they should be sent packing. I've seen an illegal released with a fine for not having a drivers license or being here legally.

Our HUGE illegal population is one reason I LOVE the FairTax idea. Make the illegals pay taxes like the rest of us instead of costing the country and honest taxpayers hunderds of millions of dollars.

There is nothing wrong with legal immigration, that is how this country was built. But the simple fact that someone is willing to break a law at the front end of their journey here sends some pretty droll messages to me. It is the height of "the end justifies the means."

Scambler states it pretty clearly...most of the illegals, even the hard working ones are a heavy burden on our society. Now I am always willing to consider each individual case and try to find a reasonable solution...amnesty is not reasonable in my mind. Public service for those that can qualify for resident status is an interesting option...lets get the infra-structure of this country rebuilt on the backs of those who came illegally but have paid taxes and contributed to our society significantly since their arrival...retribution for services used prior to pursuing legitimate status...and there are probably lots of other approaches that would be palatable.

But without retribution of some sort...I say the illegals must leave.

The company (in Iowa) is in a heap of trouble too. Removing the illegal aliens was just the beginning. Proving or disproving who knew what and when they knew it takes time and lots of work. ;)

Those who talk about the gov't not handling the situation don't know the whole story. The gov't agencies with jurisdiction in these matters are working at breakneck pace to curb the situation. That's hard to do when your budget is slashed every year and no new hires are brought in.:(

If anyone is to blame, it's congress for not properly funding the agencies. Not the agents who put their lives on the line daily and do the best they can with what they have to work with. When you say the gov't is to blame, make sure you know which part of the gov't you are talking about. ;)

Rant off.:argh:

That pretty much sums it up :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

Let me make my point more concise. Companies and people take advantage of illegals and pay them far less then they would a American citizen for a reason. Simple supply and demand economics. Americans for the most part are lazy, over paid and under worked, selfish and digging ditches beneath them. Illegal immigration will never end because rich and well to do Dickweeds don't want it to....Take Israel for instance. How Long did it take those people to erect a wall around their border with Palestine ? Seems we don't really want to end it but jibber jabber and postulate on the subject...Every year the same thing, same questions, same nothing done. I have lived in 2 boarder states for many years......Same stupid people talking rather then doing..Besides where in the Hell would we get our Weed in Arizona if they built a wall  They got shovels and they know how to use them ;) :D

The real kicker will be when all these transients return with well healed attorneys to sue the pants off the same companies, that took advantage of them in the first place, for back wages, pensions, etc. I'm with Roy........Off with the head!
