...and damn proud of it.

'Geezers' are easy to spot: At sporting events, during the playing of the Star Spangled BANNER. Old Geezers remove their caps and stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.

Old Geezers remember the Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor , Guadalcanal , Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War 1950-55, The Cold War, the jet age and the moon landing, the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005 the Jet Age and the Moon Landing, not to mention Vietnam,

If you bump into an Old Geezer On the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old Geezer on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Geezers trust strangers and are courtly to women. Old Geezers hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection. Old Geezers get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children.
Old Geezers have moral courage. They seldom brag unless it's about their grandchildren.

It's the Old Geezers who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Geezers with their decent values.
We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Geezers!
Pass this on to all the Old Geezers you know.

How Old are you??

Neither Steve or I are old enough to have lived through some of the events identified in that post, we are however old enough to have heard about them, and learned about them in school.

We are honorary Old Geezers, and damn proud of it.

I would have to say that I fit about 95% of that description. Do I qualify as an Old Geezer?!?

(I know what is significant about those events in history, but I don't remember them)

Jack I am suppose to pass this on to you according to the last coupLe of lines! THANKS OLD GEEZER!!!

Proud to be an Old Geeeeezer Jr.

I may not be old enough, but old enough to know

I'm old enough, retired and on social security. My problem is my memory is failing more and more. Now what were we talking about....... :questionmark: :questionmark: :questionmark: :elefant: :elefant: :elefant: :elefant: :elefant: :banghead:

I know the words to the Star Spangled Banner and I even sing it in the shower. I have no shame singing it anywhere.

I DON’T remember the Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy, Hitler, the Atomic Age, The Korean War 1950-55, the beginning of The Cold War, the Jet Age the moon landing in 1969, the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945, Vietnam or the Alamo.:dontknow: But, I DO remember Michael Jackson when he was still black in "The Wiz,” John Travolta in “Welcome Back Carter,” Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson, MTV (when they still showed music videos), the Rubik’s Cube, the building of the World Trade Center and when gas prices were still under $0.80/gal just as well as I remember when it was safe to leave underaged kids home alone and the age just before tamper-proof packaging.

If you bump into me on the sidewalk (although there are almost none in Houston) I would also apologize. If you pass me on the street, I will nod or tip my baseball cap then slam a couple gears back and pass you back up. I usually trust strangers and am very courtly to women. I make it a point to hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection. I tend to get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children (and MOM).

I was born in February 1972 and was brought up with moral courage. I seldom brag unless it's about my daughter Angelica.

I know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women like KRAZYSRT10 (Kris) and Flying Low in the military serving their (our) country.

This country needs Old Geezers with their decent values and younger persons who adopt these same values. We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Geezers and morally stable younger people!

And as does any previous generations, I weep for the future.

This is passed on to my VTCoA brethren.:D

What happened? No more old patriotic and proud geezers to chime in?
Naw, I am only 21.

I saw a news report today that reported on a foundation that was flying as many WWII vets as possible to the WWII memorial here in DC. It was so warming to listen to the head of the foundation (he is not a WWII vet, retired military man trying to make a difference) and the WWII vets speak about their experiences.

Personally I don't think anyone can say they are an honorary person of the greatest generation ever. Who could say what they would do during DDay when all your friends were getting killed and you kept going. How would you react during Pearl Harbor? These people are what built this country into what it is and we owe them more than we could ever pay. Like they said on the news report, that generation saved the world. I agree with a lot of the morals listed in the email, but I would never say I'm 1/10th of the person they are. These people paid with their lives and you still never hear one complaint about the true suffering they really went through.

I'm not an old geezer, but I respect the heck out of them and try to show the greatest respect to them.

I could keep going on and on, but I will stop. Seeing Arlington and the burial site in France always bring a tear to my eye.

I'm 26 and I'll do those things... lol but then again I was southern raised. I respect my peers.

Well I spent most of 1972 in southeast Asia, and I am old enough to remember the joke that FatJack is referencing "when the foo shits..."

I am old enough to be collecting Social Security, but can't bring myself to apply for it.

I would add a few things to Steve's post...Geezers also say "sir" to everyone no matter who is the oldest. Always allow anyone to merge in front of them, and when allowed to get into the flow of traffic, wave to say "thank you."

And Silverback is right, I cannot remember the last time I had wood, but I don't let that ruin my sex life!

Nice post Steve...
