Well...I bought a 2006 PT Cruiser Convertible, Turbo Touring edition this weekend. It has 10,000 miles on it and I paid $14,000  . I was tired of destroying my Cadillac CTS-V (5,000 miles in less than 3 months) and my wife was driving the SRT-10 Ram as a daily driver. We are parking the truck, cuz we want to save it for the long term. She loves the SRT Ram...and I can see why. We get more comments on it than the Viper. We hear over and over that it is the best looking Viper truck they have ever see...I feel like a proud papa.

FYI, I stopped at a Ford dealer I knew that has a Shelby Cobra Mustang. They want 30K over the sticker ($72K total). The car is unimpressive in the looks department. It has vinyl stripes that don't wrap under the panels, so they look very cheap. It made our painted stripes look awesome. Most people who see the truck think it came from the factory with the stripes.

PT Cruiser turbos don't qualify as a chick car to me. Nice purchase!

I'd have to agree - you have one of the best looking viper trucks I've ever seen. Beautiful white stripes on a red QC truck, coupled w/tonneau and moonroof - awesome! I like it so much, I made it my desktop image on my PC at home.

Yeah, with their marking up those Cobras/GT500s, I'm amazed they sell any. Frankly, I'd get myself a Corvette Z06 or Viper before paying that mark-up - just on principle alone.

Of course, the bastard dealerships will probably try to mark up the Z06 and Viper on me, too...

Thanks on the compliment. They even had their Cobra roped off. Then I went next door to a Lambo dealer and they had a Saleen S7 right out in the open ...no ropes. Lets see a $660K car versus a $43K car...

Congrats on the chick mobile, ;) that is soooooo special.:D :D :D

My buddy has a New Shelby 500 that he ordered. It has factory stripes. They are painted on. The stripes on the one you saw are probably not factory.

His Shelby 500 is soooooo nice. Black with silver stripes.
We trailer it up to Whipple in the Fresno area tomorrow and drop it off for 3 weeks to get an SVT blower prototyped.
They say when we pick it up it will have a minimum of 675 RWHP. Looking for high 9's with slicks. Evolution Motorsports has gone 10.46 with 590 RWHP.

The only thing I have against PT Cruisers are some of the annoying people that idolize the things. You can't give those things away at a dealer auction, but yet some morons spend thousands of dollars customizing them. But everyone likes something different ... But this is one of the few cars I've never really understood.

I'm not a huge PT fan, but I certainly don't dislike the car either.

I do, however, like the idea of a Turbo GT PT Cruiser 230hp 5-speed Convertible.
Seem pretty nice to me - all that while still getting 21mpg city & 27mpg highway to boot.

Compare that to the VW Beetle craze (no offense to beetle owners).
Your equivalent Beetle convert turbo (no longer made?) is 180hp and you get a built-in flower vase and ever-so-slightly better mpg (as would be expected for the lower output).

I was just thinking it was time for you to get a different car, now I can change underwear again. Which dealer did you see the Shelby, Medved?

I rented a PT Cruiser one time......My car was being serviced and I had to get around...

It was one of the regular touring edition PTs.............

I took it out on the freeway and wanted to test the vehicle's limitations.... You know....just kinda "see what she'll do"..... I found it to be suprisingly nimble.. and even though it was revving it's little heart out, it did not shift like a wimpy-assed feckless Fiesta. It snapped thru the gears in a spritely manner.

It made me wonder how much fun the turbo model must be.....

With a very minimum of body roll and suprisingly good handling for what it is... essentially a mini-mini van..... I had fun driving it...

..and for the money....? Hell, given a different situation in my life, I could see driving one of those little puppies...... Pleanty of room for carrying stuff.....

What's problematic about this car is that young people have failed to appreciate the late 30's early 40's nostaligia that was intended for it... They have considered it an "old geezers" car..... And while some of you smart-asses might well say, "That's all the more reason why that old bastard SD likes it".............. I can only respond by saying............:reddy: ......

I like the way some folks pout the wide ganster white walls on 'em too.....

Screw the naysayers..............Those little cars are fun....Even if grandma Moses does drive one.......

After all, she's "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena"............

Post that one for me if ya got it, Scotty......!

I bought my daughter an '05 PT for graduation in '05. She has 20,000 trouble free miles on it, gets 26 mpg on the highway and 20 around town. I love all the switch gear and ergonomics. At least you bought a MOPAR and not a miata or vw bug!!!!!!

Ouch...true though. The Shelby was at the Ford Dealer near Arapahoe Rd. and I-25.
