Ok, I had a thread that was titled, I'm moving to GA now the story.

I spent the last 15 years building my career at a job I love, only to receive an email telling me I can take an offer to voluntarily leave or be subject to layoff a month from now.
Now I know that their giving me something to go, however, it's hard to walk away.:bawling: I was offered a job in Lagrange GA, which as of 3hrs. ago I have accepted.

I should be happy, my old company gave me some loot to leave and I have a job to go to which makes me better off than most, but I have to up root my family right after Christmas and now my 9 yr old daughter will have to change schools in the middle of the year. This on top of the fact I feel like my heart has been broken by a company I love, a bad divorce and I didn't cheat!

Sorry to ramble, just upset and need to vent. I will ultimately be OK it just tough right now.

Kids are the most resilient people on this planet. My son was your daughter's age when his mother and I went through an ugly divorce.

Try to look at it as an adventure and a change in life, and your daughter will adjust.

Hell, I went to 11 different schools in just the 1st grade, and look how I turned out. Now that I think about it, maybe that's not the best analogy, but you get the idea.

Venting is part of the healing process so it's a good thing that you're doing it. Yes there are some things you listed that wouldn't sit right with you or anyone. A job ending after 15 years isn't easy to cope with at all. I for one dislike change, but having to search for another job is what would make that seem so bad to me. This brings me to the bright side of your situation. You have your family and are not jobless whatsoever. In the midst of what seems to be dispair you are indeed blessed. As for your 9 year old I am certain she will bounce back. She is young with her mind still in its developmental stages. Again it could be worse. You could've been dealing with an angry teen rebelling because she doesn't want to leave her friends behind. No matter where you and your family move to you have us as your family. We are always here to turn to if and when you need to vent some more. God bless you and yours buddy.

John is absolutely right. He turned out great.. He may like swinging through trees and slings his poo frequently, but nonetheless he's an awesome guy, ape, whatever..

Change is the norm these days...don't take it personally, I bet the company did not mean it that way.

But now I look back and realize that it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me! Mike look at it this way, you are able to get out of here with something. If we had to leave right now, we would lose just about everything. And that might still happen. If the asshole voters here would elect people that understand economics, we would be a lot better off.

Like John said, It's an adventure. I was moved all up and down the East coast and it made what I am today. At least that's what my shrink tells me. It will give y'all a chance to meet new people, live in a different environment and enjoy new experiences.

I know it can be heart breaking taking your daughter out of school and away from her friends but she will make new ones. Good luck with this new part of your life. Make the best of it.
