This says we have 90 degree and 54 degree unequal firing... So does that mean our crank rotates 900 degrees for all 10 cylinders to fire?

Isn't it supposed to be 720? Than that would mean the cam would rotate 450 degrees and that makes even less sense!

im confused too bro, henessy is a class of their own, way too complicated for me and toooooo expensive for my taste, but some beautiful work.

Ill try to explain

a v8 fires every 90 degrees well a v10 has to extra cylinders, so they sneak a piston in to fire between to of the cylinders. if they didnt do it that way you would have two holes firing at the same time on one bank causing a rough idle, and a shaker. If that doesnt help explain ill try another way:) thats also why your exhaust has such a odd sound:) :)

My understanding was that two of the cylinders fire simultaneously ALL of the time, and that is the reason it sounds like a 5-cylinder rice burner. Is this wrong information?

Two cylinders fire on opposite banks at the same time........... not the same bank due to the unequalness :)

hmmm..

there are 360 degrees in a full circle. 4 cylinders fire every 90 degrees, a v6 fires every 60 degrees , a v8 fires every 45 degrees and a v10 fires every 36 degrees!! That is why they are so torquey!! more active cylinders at one time.

If two cylinders always fire simultaneously then it would not be every 36 degrees, but every 72 degrees. Right?

Whoah you are sooo wrong... sorry :D . A 4 cylinder fires every 180 degrees. The Cranks rotates twice (720 degrees) for every single rotation of the cam. That is also why on a 4 cylinder a 4 into 1 header is a.... 180 degree header design and the theoretical best. That is how come I was on the assumption that the v-10 fires every 72 degrees.... and didn't understand the belangers "tri-y" design.... but I think I get it now... its a 90 degree fire for a total of 8 cylinders, and sneaks two firing at a 54 degree interval betwen I suppose.

corrected>>>

I do stand corrected!!! the fires are still every 36 degrees but only fire every second revolution. There are no 2 cylinders that fire at the same time! it would be difficult to balance the engine ..
