Ok guys I need some serious windshield care tips. I've been dealing with the windshield since I bot it. It has a bad, bad, bad case of water spots but alas these aren't your normal water spots.... THESE WILL NOT COME OFF! I've tried everything, here's what I've done so far:

Auto Glass Cleaner
Mother's Hard Water Spot Remover
Distilled Vinegar
Clay Bar and Quick Detailer
Clay Bar and Vinegar
Vinegar and Alcohol
Clay Bar and Vinegar and Alcohol

I found all of these online and not a single one works, it doesn't remove a single spot and it's driving me nuts. One it looks like @$$ up close and two it's kind of dangerous, if the sun during the day or at night someones headlights hit it directly the windshield lights up and it's hard to see through. Anyone know of anything that can help?

Sounds like you have tried just about everything,Time for a new windshield.I usually contact my insurance company,And they split the cost of a new one with me,Some may cover the whole thing if you convince them it is dangerous to drive at nite?

put some rubbing compound on the windshield and buff it...will come right off

I agree try some rubbing compound and use an electric buffer on it..if that doesn't work my guess is it's in the laminate and a manufacturing defect.

I feel like this isn't to far off I have a couple more things I want to try but I'm afraid it may end up coming to this. Luckily, my company has a discount with Safelite, it cost me $120 the last time I got a windshield replaced on my '04 Ram, just don't wanna drop that much on it if I can do it myself for a few bucks.

You have tried cleaning the inside of the windshield too right?

You know at first I went wait dumby did you check the inside after I got mad the 3rd time but alas I cleaned the inside and it was the same.

2Slow you love your rubbing compound and come to think of it... why haven't I tried that yet?

This ^^^
Or try some 0000 steel wool.
You can also get window cleaner to take care of water spots (check autogeek.net)

Steel wool was going to be my last try, I'm just worried of scratching the glass but at this point if I do I'll have to replace the thing anyways.

You need a bigger hammer;)

Trust me I got to that point today then I realized I had to drive to work today......

By the time your done with all the B/S you will be kickin yourself in the ass,New glass man,It's really smooth.:D:rock:

I was serious about the muriatic acid. My dad used to clean all our windows with it.

I was able to run out and snap a few pics in the parking lot of how bad it is. I had to take pics of the black strip along the bottom because I couldn't get it show up at all, in the black you can kind of make it out.

The first one here is without the flash

This one I left the flash on, look where the flash is hitting the windshield and that's what is running across the entire windshield. So you can imagine how bad it is when the light hits it at night.

I somehow skipped over your post, to be honest I've never even heard of muriatic acid? I'm gonna look it up right now.

0000 steel wool won't scratch the glass.

I hope not lol.... I'm gonna try some rubbing compound at the house when I get off, if that doesn't work steel wool is next and last step.

I had this issue on sunroofs and the glass top on my Mustang and I used a small orbital buffer with auto body polish to take them out. I would not try rubbing compound or steel wool. It would be best to try a polish and if that doesn't work move towards courser material. Don't start with the course stuff first.

Well today I tried my last two attempts to get rid of the spots....

Buffer and Compound.... not a dent....

0000 Steel Wool..... not a thing....

Looks likes a new windshield is in the works for this guy
