IMPROVE GAS MILEAGE???

Right now i'm getting 13 mpg out of my 03 reg cab long bed ram with the 4.7 V8. I really want the quad cab srt but I need it to get at least 12.5 mpg. I'm tring to find an ansar to the problem, not tring to tell myself this isn't the truck for me.

By the way, I know this is definately the truck for me AND I know what a quart of Moble 1 syn costs !

I own a Viper !
(and thats the problem, I'm addicted to the power !)

IMO and opinions are like sphincter muscles...everyone has one...worrying about mpg is like worrying about a few dollars off in your checking account...just not worth the effort...but go your route, and have a ball in the process.

I drive my QC daily about 70 miles total (50 hwy, 20 city). I avg 12.8 mpg. Usually I drive about 80 on the hwy, and I have been known to "play" at least once per drive home. In the city, I behave and don't romp it at all. On the weekends, I may run afew times from light to light if the right car steps up next to me. If you are constantly sticking your foot to the floor, you will see single digit MPG. Once you drive it, the mpg worries usually slip right away or get justified by saying SMILES per gallon are more important. Hope that helps.
 
yip.... agree with all others.. buy a prius if you want good mileage.....I love my truck.. take a look at my long list of mods... :D

This is stupid.... If you can afford a viper you sure as hell can afford gas for your truck. End of story...

I *average* about 14-15 mpg in my 05 RC SRT-10.
-High was almost 20 mpg (road trip to Rhode Island).
-Low was...well, pretty much any time the gas pedal meets the floorboard. :)
If you're quick, you can hit the overhead MPG computer and watch it go to "0.0 mpg" when you go WOT. Kinda fun. Take a pic of it and post it on the eco-warrior forums.

This truck gets about the same mileage as my 5.2L Durango did, so the gas budget didn't change much.


Chris- if you're burnin' cash, let me give you my FedEx number so you can send me some. I'll make sure it gets disposed of properly. :)

Tom- Gas is $2.55 here. Come on down! Oh....wait....8" of snow over 2" of ice on all roads in OH right now. Maybe not such a good idea. LOL

MPG? MPG????? WTF is that!!!!!

I get what is closer to GPM, but I wouldn't have it any other way!! This truck is a blast to drive, and I figure for every head it turns that's worth a few pennies at the pump! Oh, and since you own a Viper, you already know.... Don't even think about running 89 Octane! So, the price of gas is a bit hefty. I gave up hookers so I could afford it!:D:D I am sure there is something in your life worth $5/week that you can give up to redirect your money to the tank! Smoke? That's worth what $5 a pack, times how many a day?!?! C'mon!! It's well worth the sacrifice!!

Besides, this thing gets very close to the same gas mileage that my '01 QC 5.2 liter got!

DO IT! You'll love it!!:D:D:D

hahaha gpm, closer enough, mpg is mile per gallon it is for gas
