I have an 05 RC with 135,000 miles. I am the second owner of it and last month while i was driving, it developed a miss and the light came on. It had code P0310 which is misfire on number 10. i did a fuel and spark and compression test when the compression came up with alot of different variables under that cyd. i pulled the valve cover off and saw that i had a broke intake rocker arm and bent push rod. After looking at all rocker arms on that side i had noticed that all the intake ones are cracked by the pushrod. Has anyone seen this before? I am wondering if i should just replace the rocker arms and push rods or should i do a total rebuild, i know a complete rebuild is alot of money any suggestions??? I know my grammar sucks and sorry i am a mechanic and not a computer guy...
Sucky way for my fathers day to turn out!!!

Thanks
Chris

if monies are tight, go with the repair.

all new rockers, in. & ex. & push tubes, maybe even some aftermarket roller rockers & see how she runs then.

& run her till oil useage gets excessive

Chris,

If your goal is to get maximum life out of this engine and you are on a budget, I would replace only what needs to be replaced. You can limp a worn out big block along for many, many miles, by only replacing what needs to be replaced. If you are going to run it hard, its time to tear it down and rebuild it. Regardless, you need to pull the other valve cover and inspect those rocker arms.

How long have you owned the truck? How many miles have you put on it?

Happy Fathers Day,

I will be pulling the other valve cover off a little later today. i bought the truck back in the spring of 2010 and i have put about 25k miles on. i will prolly end up just replacing what needs replaced now and in the winter i'll do the total rebuild.

Harland Sharp has a set for the Viper Gen III engines. no valve cover spacers, maybe a bit of valve cover cleararencein.

unless someone chimes in with a complete set of stockers they have layin around:rock:

like Caveman said, do them all:rock:
