speaking professionally, you better go get it checked out to see if you got tetinus.....and man up and get a shot. Taking 12 ibuprofen is not only dangerous, but your going to end up with bigger problem than an infection....bottom line, go see a doctor.

Hopefully you don't have MRSA. I've had patients and a buddy get that infection it's a bitch to get rid of.

Just got home from pharmacy and doctor.

He said it is bad and gave me TWO more antibiotics.
Sending me on an emergency basis to a an orthopedic specialist tomorrow due to it being in the joint/tendon.

I hope I don't lose the use of my thumb.

yessir it will be, neither one of my thumbs work, they close but dont open , but mine was due to racing accidents and soakin in the wrong cider

hopefully the antibiotics will get to it in time bud, pop it in the vinegar ever so often and maybe it will help, do all you can till you get to the specialist, i jsut left one this morn, but he was a dumbass, poked, proded, pulled, yanked, had me do this and that.......looked an me and all he could say is ........."hmmm not sure whats wrong"

You need to get a Tetanus shot too, if you haven't had one in over 3 years... Tetanus can KILL YOU, so get a shot.

I would have thought the doctor would have cleaned out the wound, and not just gave you pain killer. :dontknow: :argh: Definitely get another opinion.

nelson , please , be very careful, now me, eh, I am not that careful bud, I still use a dewalt to drill into a fingernail to releave the pressure from a mashed finger

mine was on the knuckle, I actually used a pocket knife and cut it open to let it drain.

if its swolen the best place is the area of the initial damage, its gonna hurt like hell bud, just be very very careful

Nelson, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and knock the infection out. Go see the other Doc tomorrow and hopefully he can determine what has been damaged. No telling what was on that knife blade or what's growing in your injury.

A nurse friend took one look at my arm and said get to the hospital before you lose the arm. Straight to urgent care I went. So don't treat this lightly. Give it the attention it needs. It hurts like hell,but the swelling is going down,so I am not going to do anything to it except soak it in vinegar, epsom salts,and warm soapy water,not necessarily in that order.

The Vicodin is helping waaaaaaay more than the ibuprofen.
Maybe a mixed drink before bed and I can sleep

I still haven't bought a digital camera.I will attempt a description

twice normal size down to second joint,light red all over and deep red,almost purple on top of first jointand definitely purple under first joint,can barely move it,hot to the touch and tingling on surface,the joint itself hurts BAD !

It just looks like it is begging to be lanced open and drained on the first joint
