Info on Ford 302 options

Looking at lots of options :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:

used, but good condition 302 vs. reman Jasper engine ??????? where to look ?

how much is the jasper motor gonna cost? vs. used?

Upgrade to all 4 wheel disc brakes or just front discs or go with power brake vacuum booster and keep the drums ?? OR use a hydro-boost system ?

i would say only front discs are necessary...no sense in upgrading the whole system, if it's working fine....if you aren't rock racing....you won't need it...but if you swap out the complete rear end for some reason...then you might as well get a disc upgrade...

buy new kit or use parts from a Ford truck ?

New power steering box and pump or use Ford 4x4 box and upgraded pump ?
need a tilt steering column ,too

go with as much used/good condition as you can....things will break....and no sense in paying top dollar to replace it....
I don't plan to do a LOT of rock crawling, but I don't want parts breaking if I do
NO MUD !!!!!!!!! cleaning sucks !!!!!!
mostly trails and a little off-trail rock climbing

Got Stinker working on some prices and ideas for me,just looking for all the input I can get

looking to keep the costs as low as I can

then sell it and get out while the gettin's good:D ;)

just my .02

This one was a California truck that used to compete in races
The stock sheet metal was removed and then re-done in a really heavy gauge metal,it has lockers front and rear,4.88 gears, twin stick diff. shifters,a high HP straight 6 with headers and a 4 bbl ! I could go on and on about the super cool mods  like hard and soft tops, lift, rocker protectors, ooooooooooohhhhhhhh:D

It is well worth the money
you should ditch the bronc and get this one...hands down....:D

Probably,but I love ,no,make that : I LOVE this Bronco !! :D :marchmellow:

found a 69 Galaxie 500 with a 302 that runs great fro $500 and has about 90,000 miles
needs a few gaskets ,but otherwise seems ok

i'd look for a late(er) model 5.0L, they ahve factory roller cams and some mustang 5.0's have factory forged pistons, get a set of the GT40p heads i mentioned in my other post, call comp on a cam and i'm sure they can fix you up. did that year bronco have an option for power brakes?? if it did i'd just use the factory stuff as much as possible.

way too much power for me :D

I am looking for a little more low-end torque

Yes,power brakes were an option, but I don't think they went to disc fronts until 76 :dontknow:

I am trying to do this super cheap, but not unsafe

I eventually want a full resto-mod with a hi-po engine and tricked out with mods for a daily driver, but this one is strictly a trail rig for now ( a highway legal trail rig :D )

just sent yo a pm on info I need buddy:)
PM replied to / hope that was the info ya needed

I also need a set of shorty headers (better for torque aren't they )

and I am feeling much better this morning  :D
my back has been giving me fits lately since I fell off the shop roof  :(

i think you should try a set of gears front and rear in the bronco..while ur at it step up to some heavy duty u joints.

As far as the engine, i dont know in how bad of shape your current motor is but perhaps you should look into getting a new timing chain and throw in a summit cam and lifters. while your at it get your self an aluminum 4bl intake.
(eldy dual performer will be great). As for a carb the stock 2bl is junk esp if your gonna be crawling. I rec you get the truck avenger holley. Its made for off roading and extreme angles. I have one on my 73 f250 and can vouch for it. With your little 302 i would go 600 cfm TOPS!! i dont if they offer a smaller but if they do go for it

this cam will wake it up. as far as summit cams they are good stuff and are rebadged "melling" cams

oh and for headers get the ones with smallest collector and primary tube
