tim is 100% keerect. we dynoed a truck that is here now, its NA, and made 540hp---sounds good, except that the power was between 4500 and 6000. it only made power for 1500 rpm. i overlapped it with Begoods dyno run, and he made more than 150 hp every where until 5000 rpm, and thats when the other engines cam took off. it was a total dog to drive and loaded up like crazy. begoods truck smoked it everywhere in the power curve. total HP means nothing, its the curve that counts, so pick a cam wiselyViperTruck2933 said:One thing to keep in mind is that in order to achieve big hp numbers your cam profile will be such that the torque curve will suffer. That'll make your truck a turd on the street.
What we need is a cam profile with a good torque curve. Joe has tried literally hundreds of cams in viper engines and he dyno's everyone of them. So he knows what'll work with your specific set up.
What works for me may not work for you if you have different mods.
