Well it has never been a problem for me but recently its has become an issue. Cliff notes...........fighting with business partners has given me lots of stress. Been trying to control that stress and felt I was doing a good job about it. For some reason this week I have not been able to fall asleep at all. I would just lay there for hours. Have tried reading, tv, no tv, counting sheep, slowing my breathing down etc......nothing worked. Finally after serveral hours I had broke down and took an ambiam. It worked but if you dont have 8 hours you end up feeling very groggy in the morning.

I also have given up all caffine, stims etc.... I use to do coffee morning and afternoon, now nothing. Have been doing research about melatonin and valarium root. Since they are supplements and not FDIC tested drugs I am hesitant to try. I really dont like taking an ambiam every night but I already had one night where I never fell asleep at all.................now that makes for a horrible next day.

Any input would be appreciated.

ummm try reducing your oxygen levels .. breath in a brown bag a few times while laying in bed...

hey patrick, get in touch with JOSE CUERVO...he's da man:D

seriously ive' never had that problem, but when i'm stressed, surfing does wonders, how about all that beautifull scenery to relax ya' (take a walk on the beach),and just saying to yourself "it could be worse";)

ummm im no doctor thats for sure... but whne i have trouble sleeping i personaly just hold my breath as long as possible several times in a row.. wich obviously reduces the oxygen to the brain and seams to help.. who knows maybe im crazzy.. but i would try the " hyperventelation" thing with the bag.. breath in it untill you cant any longer .. take a normal breath try again.. who knows.. maybe that will help you as well.. im not sure how many times this is recomended.. or if you can do it to much.. but its worth a shot..

starve your brain of oxygen? ya, you'll pass out for sure.LOL gotta' be a better way.

I HIGHLY recommend Melatonin.

When I have trouble sleeping, especially due to stress (the thoughts in your head just don't stop!), melatonin works!! And there is no groggy feeling no matter how long you sleep. I have taken it when I only had 2-3 hours to sleep, and woke up feeling ok, still tired, but from lack of sleep, not drugs.

I keep a bottle of 5mg sublingual in the nightstand.

I think the max recommended dose is 10mg/day, but 5 works great!! Usually within 10-15 minutes, it's lights out!

And they are cheap!!

Perhaps you should try going to the gym before its time to hit the sack...Hell have you tried rubbing one out? If the first one doesnt do it, the second one will:rock:

you need a blow job...a I am basically unable to function after one. and am usually asleep with in 5 minutes...that why my wife wont do it if I have chores left to do around the house

Drag your ass out of bed at 2:45am 5 days a week. Then work a second job until midnight on Saturday's. T-h-e-n try to readjust your schedule again for 2:45am Monday morning.:s:

Sooner or later, you'll sleep.

I also gave up on caffiene about 4 months ago. I was never a coffee drinker (Actually, I've never even tried the crap as I can't get past the stink of it!), but I used to drink a bottle of Coke every day at work (1/2 liter - 16oz). Then I cut back to a 12oz can of Coke. Then I just decided not to drink it at all. When I start yawning around 8am at work, I eat an apple. Seems to wake me up. :)

Another thing I heard of years ago when you need to relax.

When you lay down in bed, flex your muscles and hold them for a few seconds, then release. Start at your feet and just work your way up your legs, azz (clinch up yer butt cheeks!), abs, lower back, upper back, chest, arms(tris, bis, forearms, hands), neck, and face muscles.

Also, try not to eat within 4 hours of going to bed, and avoid large meals late in the day. I know that keeps me awake.

Personally, I'd avoid drugs. Always. Screw that.

Taking a good shit helps too.:toilet: :D :aetsch:

It's simple: Read The Bible..........

Don't study it...... unless you are so inclined.....

Just start with Genesis, page one..... by the time you get very far you'll be sawing logs like a lumberjack in the Great Northwest..... Trust me. The Bible is the greatest cure for insomnia ever devised....

I can't tell you the reason why. (I'm kinda sworn to secrecy on that one....) But trust me, you'll fall asleep faster than (if you'd been) beaten over the head with a ballbat.

melatonin will work. your body makes it by itself when it is time to sleep. the doctor told us to use that on my 10 yr old and it helps, with no side affects.

Heheheh.... It's great for the kids!! knocks em on there asses!

Stress does wonders on a person. Trust me - from experience! I thought I was the only local that couldn't sleep at night! :p

I am not a doctor by any means, and I'm not against others taking what ever helps them fall asleep or whatever ails them, but I have learned over the last few months, that no matter what you take, it still does not take away the underlying problem. So as soon as you stop taking whatever it is that helps you for the moment - you go right back into the the insomonia stage.

I have been slowly working on getting rid of my stress and over the last week I actually had 2 nights that I slept 6-7 hours. It was amazing!

No matter how strong you think you are - stress can bring down the biggest of all men in some form or fashion!

Take care of yourself! Be good to yourself! And most importantly get rid of that stress and be happy!!

 :turtle:

Post coital slumber is a normal reaction for the younger set.

I think I remember that...

Maui/SRT10, you have touched on a problem that is very near and dear to me. I don't feel comfortable sharing the intimate details of my stress induced meltdown, but I could not sleep for months at a time. I did, however find a product that I still currently use, Remmax.com, as in rem sleep. It is a liquid form of melatonin (the hormone responsible for your circadian sleep cycle rythyms). Melatonin in tablet form is partially destroyed in your digestive cavity rendering the product somewhat less effective. This product is droppered into your mouth where it must remain for at least 5 minutes to allow for better absorption. This product is manufactured in Utah. I have spoken with the company at great lengths about purity and any side effects. But, so far after over a year, I have nothing to report except way better sleep. Only downside, it's not cheap. It still is less than the ambian. If you would like to speak with me at greater lengths about my personal experience, PM me or call my home 631-724-7033. Cell 516-314-3945. I have no other relationship with this company except the use of their product.
