One thing is for sure... I like the truck with no muffler! That sounds awesome!

Old muffler came off without too much trouble, and new magnaflows went on pretty easy.

Just a quick question... It is a little close to the bumper and would like to drop it down a little. How would I go about doing that? How close are your mufflers to the bumper?

Thanks,

Paul

You "Go About Doing This" ;) ..... Buy loosening the clamps "slightly" and pulling DOWN on the tail-pipe..... Then as pressure is applied.... TIGHTEN the clamps. :) It may sound like "forcing it", but that's how I got mine to look like they do.... and they haven't changed since, with approx. 10K miles. :)

Yup. I have trouble getting my hand between the tips and the fender to clean...so it is designed to be about 1 inch below the bumper.

I was short 1 person last night (was just me). I have a friend coming over today and I will do as you suggested. It is a little close for comfort. I looked at them this morning and there is some brown residue on the inside of the exhaust tip (I ran it up and down the street last night). Is this normal? I am going to continue to monitor it.

Here are some pics:

Yup, too close...you might get a little heat rash with them that close...and you will not be able to clean them very well.

Jake has the solution.

I suck at drunken technical advice. I was gonna suggest that last night, but I guess I forgot. :(

Sounds like you were down a man anyways. . . But yeah, have yourself or someone else pull down on tail pipes and have you or someone else tighten the clamps.

The residue inside the tips is normal. They're gonna get a lot more than just a little brown once you drive it some more. They're gonna get black. :D

Unless you clean it 50 times a week like sum idiots do...

Yep, they wont come down much more than that.... but, they will a little. :)

Make sure you clean the chrome tips GOOD before you get them too hot, or else the fingerprints will NOT come off. ;)

Ahh good tip!

Thanks Jake!

Yes the residue is normal.. that will go away.. that just oil and gunk from the pipes and muffler when they made them... it will smoke a bit also once the muffler get good and hot.

To lower the tip.. loosen the clamps, take a 1/2 breaker bar between the pipes (not the tips), and give it a good yank down till the sit right and straight.. then tighten the clamps back up.. not to big deal.. but easier of you have two people.
