Install was easy. The only trouble I had was taking of the shift ball off of the stock shifter. Stupid bone headed move resulted in a stripped jam nut and Hurst shift lever :shot: Yeah I thought it was one piece D'OH !!!

Anyway I wrapped a whole bicycle tube where the lever bolts onto the shifter, zipped tied it and shoved that little vinyl sleeve from the stock shifter over the tube. Is there anything else I can do that might have better results? A different shift ball perhaps that is heavier? I wish B&M made a black anodized pistol grip, that'd be the ballzzzzzz.

Shifting is wayyyyyyyy better than that stock POS. Now I can shift with authoritayyy. I can't believe Hurst put their name on it. I guess it's decisions like that which caused them to be bought out.

The stocker just sucks.........plain and simple!!! On mine I was getting extra rattle from the spacer nut. Make sure yours is tight.

I used a piece of urethane hose..........not sure if thats any better than rubber as a spacer.

Some people have had luck by changing out the tranny fluid. I think Stinker had a thread about it.

You could always add catless midpipes and then you'll never hear your tranny!! LOL:burnout:

Well that's an idea. So you put a piece of urethane hose between the lever and shifter? All I did was wrap the bike tube around everything.

Yup, that helps but makes the shifting a little less positive...

Randy take a small piece of rubber or hard plastic and Put in between handle and base,

DONT OVERTIGHTEN!! snug it firmly and use a thread loctite to hold the bolt

but also when wrapping the lower bolts and such it needs to be extremly tight.
either use ruber bands, even electrical tape , or take a the rubber innertube and wrap it very tight around the bolts then zip tie.

try this, then let the Doctor know:D

Yup, take a piece of inner tube rubber and place it inbetween the shift arm and the shifter. Works great ;)

Of course you then need to take 147 #5 rubber bands and wrap them around the the shifter arm were it bolts to the shifter :D

I tried the inner tube trick on my Gen IV shifter and it didn't stop it. I switched to the B&M shifter and went to the hardware store. Picked up some rubber washers and put those in between the 2 peices.

I don't have the sonic resonance any more but the shifter rattles like hell when I get down hard on the throttle. I don't know where the rattle is since there are rubber washer in there, but it sure does it. :dontknow:

I think my POS tranny is just a rattling peice of crap.

:D

yeah the noise from the x-metal ones was kinda annoying too... I put some formed foam n shit in there... I may have even used some duck tape "macguyver style"...

It's amazing I didn't kill my RC sooner than I did...:D

p.s. loved the Cartman reference ... beefcake.... say it with me BEEFCAKE:D

I also have the B&M and very small amount of resonance .... I feel it's worth not missing third.

Go to a sporting goods store or gun shop and get one of the round things that are supposed to stop the barrel from vibrating and enhance accuracy.I don't remember the name or maker ,but it worked for me. :D (they make a lot of silencing stuff for bows also)
