I've decided to take out the Mygig and install a kenwood DNX6140. I currently have an Alpine 4 channel amp in the truck. The reason I'm switching, is the sound quality just isn't very good when using the PAC interface needed for a factory radio to work with an aftermarket amplifier. When I purchased the truck, it came with a Kenwood excelon radio that sounded GREAT!! When I installed the Mygig and the interface, it just lost too much detail and the bass became some what muffled. My question is...What harness adaptor do I need to get the radio and amp to work. I don't like cutting into the factory harness, so I would rather use the proper harness adaptor. Thanks as usual.

All you need is a wiring harness for your year truck. You can probably get one at wal-mart. Then just get a set of RCA cables to connect the amp to the head unit. Pretty simple. I'm sure somebody (cough 5 0 Bait cough) will chime in.

I'm not sure if it's that simple with the '06 Canbus system. I was hoping it is, but I thought I read somwhere that the '06 does not have a way to power the aftermarket radio or turn the amp on at the factory harness.

You can always check on Crutchfield. I know the factory amp won't turn on, but you're not using that are you?

Man after everything you did and went through to put the MyGig in your truck you should at least try to get in touch with 5 0 Bait and see what he can do for you. The worst that could happen is he says you are screwed and start over and that is what you are thinking about doing now. :(

You finally got the look you wanted and now you are going to toss it away.. I understand about the sound quality but they said he could help. Give him a try. :)

Someone has got to have his email or phone number. Wait you can email him from his Avatar, give that a try.... :)

Hey Chief. Yeah, from the moment I put the mygig in, I knew I wasn't happy with the sound quality, compared to the kenwood that the previous owner had put in. I was expecting it, as I had done a lot of research and this seems to be a common issure when dealing with radio interface devices. I thought I could live with it, until I got into a friends car and heard his. Oh well.:)

Sorry. Been busy as hell. Getting ready to go to work but thought I would chime in.

Technically they do not make a plug and play part (according to the box) but they actually do. However if you want to keep your steering wheel controls you wil also need another box. Cna't buy the part at Wal-Mart (that I am aware of)

Okay there are two ways to install a radio in your truck. You can buy the parts or you can wire it yourself (can be done and I can guide you through).

Here is the main part you will need. When I get home from work (6-7 ish) I will do some research to make sure all parts will work for you.

Hey Steve you can get a regular old wiring harness if you're bypassing factory amps and using an aftermarket radio. Its how I did mine and I rewired the whole sound system. You can get them at walmart for like $10-15. You have to buy an antenna adapter too. If your doing a DVD TV take the parking brake wire and gound it with the system and you'll be able to watch TV while in motion. Good choice going Kenwood, best Headunit on the market today!
Edit...like 5_0 you can't get steering control piece at walmart..only the harness!

Thanks man. Yeah, I would feel better buying the parts if it can be done that way. Me and wiring do not mix well.:) Again, thanks for your help. I'll check back later tonite.

According to Peripheral's website, this interface is if you'll be using the vehicle's amp. Remember, I have a seperate amp. Is this still the way to go? I'm assuming that I just need this interface for power and amp turn on? Also, will this effect sound quality as the other interface that I used?

Did you get it solved Steve? I want to hear that truck bumping next time I see it at the track!!
