Steve, hope everything comes out the way you want it to. BTW: Will the new system work with your Uconnect and Sirius that you have installed????

If so how??? I couldn't give that up, I use them too much. :)

The new radio is Sirius capable, so I'm trying to find a way to hook up my factory antenna. The radio comes with bluetooth developed by Parrot. I have a Parrot system in my wife's Aramada and I like it. So we'll see if I can rig everything up. :)

Santeen. You should be able to use the factory antenna. They use the smae plug (at least on Mercedes and some domestics)

If not I have a secret place (not that one perverts LOL) you can put the aftermarket one as well as a trick to get better reception.

Wanna know???

Okay, now I need to find a source wire for the back-up signal to turn on the reverse camera screen in the radio. Can anyone with '06 tell me were they got the signal from to feed the radio. Thanks

Not too sure but I believe you need to find the reverse wire which will cause the camera to auto come on. The factory Sirius antenna should be the same as the one needed for kenwood at least it was in my bro's 06 ram. The am/fm antenna requires an adapter though. Sorry I dont know the exact wire for reverse...

If no one knows about the reverse wire Santeen, I can look it up for you tomorrow. I will send you the wire color chart for your truck.

Okay if the antenna does not work. First things first. Throw the factory Sirius antenna in the trash, they are pieces of sheit. Then get yourself an XM antenna. They are alot more durable and seem to get signal better. The place to install the antenna is under the front plastic cover on the dash (one closest to the glass) Apply a little sticky tape and you are good to go. The antennas can pick up perfectly under plastic or fiberglass.

Note: XM and Sirius antennas (new ones) are interchangeable. If you do not want to get an XM antenna then assume you will replace the Sirius one about once a year.

(Before the post start flying about how long YOUR Sirius antenna lasted, I am giving advice based on experience. It is a known fact that the covering of the braided wire for the Sirius antenna is horrible at protecting the wire inside it.)

Santeen just trying to help you out bud. Those aftermarket Sirius antennas S-T-I-N-K!!!

Try white with green driver side fender. This info from the 1500 so use a multimeter to verify.

I think you're right. Where in the fender is it?

You can try at the fuse/relay box it will lift up to give you access to all of the wires underneath. Or the large plug behind the inner fender on the driver side closest to the cab, this is not the best place to splice in due to location of the plug and the possibility of getting moisture in to the connection.

Easiest way is to route a piece of 14 guage wire from the taillight to the cab. Easier to find the source wire. Or you can simply find out if there is a bypass code in the radio that you can use so you can watch going down the road. I had mine this way and it was neat and doesn't decrease the camera life by any means. I could read the license plate on a car when they pulled behind me on the road. All I had to do is flip through the function screen and voila, see what you just passed. LOL!

Frank,
What your saying is the Sirius antennas suck? I have one now, mounted at the location you said (Only on top)
Mike

Mike they just seem to give out for some reason. The antenna has a ground messh sleeve that hides the single copper strand. The thin plastic shield cannot be bent much without the ground sleeve touching the main wire. Also if you ever get a chance swap the antenna with a XM one and you get much better signal. Weird huh!!

Yea, that is kinda weird.
But, I will take your advice and upgrade. If it helps with the signal then it will be worth the money.

True words right there....I've been thru 3 Sirius antennas in 5 years. Been lucky and had the same one for going on 3 years now. They seem to break the outter plastic and once that happens signals in n out! Never thought of the dash though!!!

I would also think running a wire from light would work because all it needs it a signal to activate it to turn on!
