Getting ready to install an x-metal TB. Was wondering if I need to adjust the TPS after installing. Didn't see anything mentioned about the TPS in the DIY section. I know with my Mustang you had to adjust the TPS anytime that you took it off. Just wondering if this is the case with our trucks? If so, what's the procedure? Thanks.

nothing to adjust after installation to my knowledge...
(hope you don't have high idle rpm tho)

I am the very very last guy around here to give tech. advice, but I do seem to remember something about making sure clearance around the butterfly is even all around. (throttle sticking issues). I think some fellas used a piece of paper to gauge. Maybe someone else will chime in. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. (Santeen for Pres of VTCoA)

Just make sure what direction it turns when you take it off and make sure the when you put it back on to clock it in the right direction or you rpms will go goofy

I notice there is a screw to adjust base idle, I assume. Should I have to mess with that? If so, anything special with that? Or just turn until base idle is correct?

When I swapped mine, I just disconnected the battery for the install. I haven't had any problems what-so-ever.

Thanks. By the way, I'll be installing the plate today. I have to do a little sanding on the top and bottom, but not much.

I doubt that. We'll probably be pretty close. I have that extra weight of that heavy ass toneau cover.

If she was really good, she would of had you down here changing it for me. :D

Okay I installed it afterwork. Super easy install. Two things that I noticed and need help correcting. The idle is a little high. Around 850-900 rpm in drive. Is the fix for this, as simple as adjusting the small screw on the throttle body? And the second to third gear shift takes a little longer than before. The throttle response is definitely crisper and I have no throttle sticking that I can detect. And, lets not forget the bling factor.

It's kinda hard to tell from the picture you posted.:D :p :needpics: :needpics: :needpics:

You do not adjust the idle with the throttle stop screw. The PCM adjusts the idle for you. However, if the idle won't come down, then the base idle airflow rate is too high. So, you need to back off the screw a bit and then let the computer adjust the idle airflow controller.

If your 2-3 is a little late, you have your TV cable tighter than it was before. Just loosen it up a bit, and it should shift like it used to.

The TV cable adjustment took care of the 2-3 shift. Now, it's been a few days and the computer has not reset the idle. So, should I go ahead and back of the screw a little? I know you said it's okay, but I just want to make sure. What rpm should I set the base idle to in park and what should it actually be in gear?

If i recall correctly, if you mess with the screw too much the throttle will surge? up and down because the computer will try to correct the idle and then it will go back down etc etc.. Just be careful if you must :D :D

You might want to disconnect battery again to reset the computor. I guess I was lucky and had no idle issues.

Bling factor is huge on the x metal unit.
