Since late 90's GTS' are goin kinda cheap (in the low to mid 30's) I was thinking about a nice LT car as a gift to myself... Anyone know how much insurance would run on a 22-23 year old?

Also, anyone that owned one please chime in.. How do these cars behave and could I get a comparison of one of these to our trucks? Thanks!!! Any other info would be awesome! :slug:

When I insured my boat last summer, I talked to my agent about insurance on a Viper for S&G. She said the Viper was actually LESS to insure than my truck . . . ? I pay $87/month on the truck, and a 99 GTS was going to be $79. I'm 27 (26 then) and use State Farm.

I got one at about 103$ a month, 26/Male/Married/Homeowner. Primary driver through.

500K/500K/1.0Mil coverage with a 1K deductible and a umbrella policy.

My rates won't be anywhere near yours cause an old crusty bastard. But there is no comparison between the truck and the car. The 2000 pound disadvantage of the truck makes the 2 WAY different.

This is the only way I can think to compare them.
The truck is a beast compared to other trucks. The Viper is a beast compared to the truck.

i have a coworker with both. he says the two dont even compare in driving. he says the viper can get away from you quick if you are not on top of it at all times. its a real drivers car. and some crazy stat like 18% of vipers produced have been totalled

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

I love mine but I don't drive it everyday. If you are driving it daily it will get old getting in and out. My 04 RC had headers, pcm,no cats,4.56,and a cold air. The car has 3 inch catless Mopar race exhaust and pcm,and Mopar air filters. Performance is night and day difference. Insurance went up 400.00 a year, Viper is 2 years newer.Tag went from 190.00 to 490.00 including the 35.00 vanity fee.

being under 25...is going to make a difference.

I know USAA has an equivalency thing with Staff Sergeant being equal to being 25. I wonder if LT gives the same discount???

If its not going to be your daily driver check out Haggerty. I was surprised how affordable the insurance was.

You guys must NOT live in North Carolina. Insurance here is F'in crazy. I have NO points and just the truck and a cheap ass toyota yaris and mine is just over 2300 a year. Thats with all my discounts added. The insurance went up again in Feb by 10%. Fuck I'm getting ripped off here.

96 GTS 29yr old male, 500k accross the baord liability, $45k replacement cost = $660 yr.

I had it with Grundy

Not sure what your insurance will be, but mine is not bad at 34 years old insured thru USAA.

As said previously, the car is much different than the truck, you must be responsible with it in 1st and 2nd gear. There are good deals out there right now on Vipers, take your time, find what you want, and have it checked out before you purchase. Good luck!
