Is it spelled Gauges or Gages?

I was starting up the truck and was looking at the dash lights and one of them reads "Check Gages". I thought Gages was suppose to be spelled Gauges??

I just looked it up and apparently it is ok to spell it either way. Though I have always spelled it with a "u" myself.

This word has been spelled wrong for so long in America that Webster's dictionary simply gave in.....

hahaha that's hilarious! I've seen that light come on in my durango when 4x4ing in the summer (temp gets hot) but I never noticed if it was spelled like that.

"Irregardless"...........the most profoundly conspicuous, self contradictory word in the English language.... a word that became a laughing stock amongst erudite English speakers worldwide.... is now listed in Websters as being an acceptable word.

What a decline in standards..... When the Oxford dictionary caves into this shit as well, I'm going to find a very high cliff somewhere and go base jumping....buck naked.....
