Hey guys, New member, nice to meet everyone!
I just bought a 05 QC. The truck went 14.073@ 99.59 w/2.16 short time in 72 degrees bone stock( I thought it would go faster then that). So i cut in a couple 40 series flowsmasters, ordered a ecu from DC with the stat and dropped the back 2". Went back to the track last night weather was about the same truck went [email protected] w/2.26 short time? Anyone have any ideas? I know it should of gained more then a tenth and 1 mph.

Don't get me wrong the truck feels alot better on the street with the torque control gone, but I don't see it at the track.

Jason

You had a faster ET but a slower 60. Get the 60 below 2.0 and you will see a big drop in your ET. Also lower your rear tire pressure to 26 psi or so. Did you keep your cats? You can also drop some weight (spare tire, bed cover). Did you run in tow haul mode?

Welcome to Da Club!!!!!

Welcome fellow Floridian....

Should we run in tow haul mode Smoke?

There use to be a guy named boomer on the site, he had ways of waking the beast that sleeps......you could always e-mail or call X-Metal , they are in Evansville In. and more than willing to help out. Not knowing what color truck you have....that might be the issue as well......

Yes and here is why. Power really gets going on these trucks in the higher RPM bands. That is why the flash is such a good deal as it adds the power down low. Now you are in the power band at high RPM's. The tow/haul mode keeps you in that power band longer. In other words it keeps it from shifting to early even though the flash does raise the shift points for you. I ran 13 times one day at the track. I didn't get into the 12's until I put it in tow/haul mode.

I ran it with tow haul on and off it didn't seem to do much. I was at 25psi down to 20psi. I do have cats, spare tire and bed cover, haven't stripped any wieght. 60-70 horse I would think a couple mph. Oh yeh its Silver!

Alright 2.2 60 got you 13.9@100. I bet if you cut a 1.8 60 you can get 13.1 or better. .4 shaved off your 60 time is a lot on the back end. My 12.7 was with a 1.8 60. What were your 1/8 times and did you roll into the throttle? You can also try puting the truck in 1st until you get going then throwing it into Drive. I have found that if I didn't have it in 1st sometimes it would shift early on me and then downshift once I was at WOT. You already have a silver truck so that is the fastest so changing colors won't help.

Do you have an intake? You should at least get a K&N drop in and try to lose at least the rear cats.

Hey Gang....

Talked with Jason earlier today and sent him over here for the brain power...

He is knows drag racing and the dynamics of the 60'....his question and I could not find the answer is why the low trap speed...

At sea level with good air he should be hitting 103-104mph easy....?..

Why the low trap...Flowmasters...?....

I was wondering about the flowmasters myself. A dyno run might help trying to figure this one out. But what would the difference be in trap speed with a better 60? Or would it make a difference? I would tend to point towards the flow masters, stock intake and cats. Maybe the air is just not flowing well. I'm just guessing on this one.:dontknow:

nope...a crappy 60' won't change the trap speed...Smoke what was your trap when you ran the 12.7...?...
you had the flash, catback, cai and what else...?

K&N CAI, Borla ext without rear cats and stage 2. Drop the tailgate, jack and spare. 12.710 @ 108.39. I just happen to have the slip right here.

1/8 8.159 @ 86.45 and my 60 was 1.862 (not that it matters). Cold air and negative DA.

there you have it Jason....

catback....(magnaflow) and some weight reduction...smoke had good weather as he said...but 104mph sounds right...

Tow/haul...22psi...lean on the thottle (800-900rpm) and slam it....13.5 at 104 worse case.....:D

Hey guys I went ot the dyno after work. 400/420 no cool down truck was at 200 degrees. put the stock ecu in and put down 399/398 no cool down!

I' m not gaining much peak hp but it does come in quicker.
shouldn't I be making more peak power?

nope.....the gains can be seen at lower rpms.....

does the hp seem right for what is done?

flows and ecu.
where is the best place to get the cat bypass pipes?

With the stage 1 flash/Borla without rear cats and K&N I was at 420 RWHP and 460 TRQ. I then upgraded from stage 1 to 2 and dyno'd at 438 RWHP and 500 TRQ.

I would like to see your dyno sheet. 400/420 are stock numbers. Something is not right somewhere. I just don't know where. Maybe it is the flowmasters?:dontknow:

I think you just the mid pipes but I'm not sure. Give Gary (Boomer) a call or send him a PM. He is a vendor here and his section is the X-metal section.
