I purchased today, a domain name from godaddy.com. This may have been a huge waste of 17 bucks, but I dont care. I just wanna a damn website up and running.

Part of purchasing the name from godaddy is a free website with advertising. I haven't set that up yet, I don't want to use it.

My question is, where can I find a inexpensive web host to hose my domain name. I've got quite a few pictures and some video I'd like to have on there. Hell, I just wanna website.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks In Advance

Could have got it cheaper than that I think. It doesn't matter who you buy it from, we are the ones they come to, I work for VeriSign.

Tons of hosting services out there. Just google for web hosting, theres so many options it's unbelievable.

Pm'd ya!

GoDaddy is my host as well as my registrar.

Good plans, good customer service.

I use Macromedia Dreamweaver to create the site, but there is lots of good software out there cheaper than that.

Check out this inexpensive but very good software:

www.coffeecup.com

Hope that helps!!

It does some. I was kinda under the impression I could purchase a domain name and create a site all in one fail swoop.

I didn't know I needed software on top of that. Oh well, gotta do, what I gotta do.

So I need to:
1) purchase software to create the site
2) purchase server space to host the site
3) drink some fkn beers
4) _____________________

Sorry for the dumb questions. I am new, will learn fast and can figure the shiz out eventually. . . I didn't want to go the geocites route.

Anyways, thanks in advance again.

The tecknohlogee is cuulz!

Actually, most hosts have free web templates that you can use to create a basic website using their website. I think GoDaddy has that.

You don't NEED to purchase the software, but it helps because you can plan, design and create the site "offline" so that the "live" site is unaffected when you make changes.

The beer however, is mandatory!!

I'll have to check they're templates out. I don't want anything to super extreme, but I do want something more unique than most.

I don't mind to purchase, I just wanna make sure I don't buy crap I don't need. It'd be cool to mess with page idea offline though. Its something I am looking in to.

My main thing is the space. . . When I purchased my domain name, I got access to a free server with low bandwidth and low storage. During my registraion process, I took to long, I was doing all the in the background at work, my registration timed out and my shz was lost. I still have to domain name obviously, but the info registration at the remote sign is lost. No huge deal, I planned on upgrading anyways.

Again, thank you all. :)

Any other inputs? :dontknow: :)

Software:
I use DreamWeaver for all my sites. It's great...but pricey.
HTML coding is pretty easy. Most software will show you errors when you check it before putting it up online.

Hosting:
For Tremol-No.com, I'm fortunate enough to have a buddy with a server. :D Jemfest.com uses AAA Hosting. We have a decent deal with them considering we're a charity event and in June and July we push some serious bandwidth with our webcasts and concert downloads. :)

Forums:
VBulletin is awesome, but again....it costs money.
There's a new product out that's almost exactly like VBulletin, but it's free. Tons of hacks (modifications) available for it too. I'll try to get the name of it. SevenString.org just moved to it.

Let us know when you get someting online and we'll all critique the hell out of it. LOL
