I always thought the idea of a foum like this was to amoung other things, to share feedback, opinions, results of trial and error etc....

To help each other....

to be up front....

So why the PMs, phone calls and E-mails trying to shut me up about Boomer?

I have never met Boomer...maybe he is a Saint....maybe he is an ass...in the end I don't care....he is a vendor that I sent my money to and in return I got 2nd rate products...

Now being a forum...what to do....?

Do you tell other members that the product wasn't what was promised or I am supposed to bite my tongue because Gary is well Gary...

I put Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on my truck last year....they were restricive as hell and killed power....cut them off and added Billy Boat....and the power was back....Ran Nitrous and the Billy Boat imploded....melted...fell apart...called Billy Boat and they said no racing....the muffler for $1300 is designed for factory power levels only...now is this useful information...as a member am I supposed to share this....does this trial and error information fit into the purpose of the forum....?....what if I bought the mufflers from Gary...am I supposed to say nothing....?

So to Gary's friends out there that contacted me to back off....one question...

back off what...?.the truth....?
 
I, personally love Gary Virgin.........He's a damn nice fella....

But, if a man has a problem with something he bought (even if it is from Gary) he has every right to express his dissatisfaction with either the product or the service.

The only reason (that I can see) that anyone would wish to stifle the expression of this dismay is for some form of gain....... whether it be monetary or otherwise.

Besides, I haven't seen Mike Brady say anything that unduly disparages Gary outright.

I have seen allusions of displeasure in Gary's direction, but if Mike really has a major problem with Gary, then in my opinion, he's been very diplomatic in his expressions of dismay......

I mean.. I'd really like to know................wtf did Brady say to piss you off this time, baby......?

I have stuck up for Boomer too..... Lately, I feel like I stuck my foot in my mouth. :dontknow: :(

Boomer has great IDEAS.... I think at this point, he just needs to PICK a business... Because between the Cycle Shop and X-Metal, he obviously cannot do both. :confused: :dontknow:

I, for one, will never berate ANYONE for telling the TRUTH. :mad:
 
Aye, you have a lot of experience Mike that not many other can ever expect to attain. You have my respect and I value your opinions very much. I hope none of this gets too ugly however.

You probably already know what I'm going to say.....

I'm all for both good and negative reviews of any product regardless of the vendor. I want to know the truth. I have to (on my own) take the different comments and opinions and decide for myself how I feel. I don't want anyone to tell me haw to feel, what to buy, who to buy it from.

How people decide to provide the pro's and con's of anything I think is what the real issue is. I'm sorry, I didn't not or do not remember the specific thread in which we are discussing.

There are certain people here that I know what to expect from them and I appreciate there candor

Mike, you've always been straight and upfront with your opinion

So keep it up

As much as I appreciate the Vendors, and what they provide (haven't bought anything yet) I think it is important that appropriately stand by there product. y that, I mean if there is no guarantee.... then say it. If it's 100% satisfaction guarantee, then honor it

I'm gonna be honest with ya.. Speak your mind about your experiences
forget the idiots that try to shut you up.... some people have good experiences
and others, like yourself, were bad.. i honestly haven't heard a bad thing
about Gary and i think that some of the people on here are devout garyists..
you can't change them but you can share your opinions.. nothing wrong with
that.... Be strong brother.. and if the person whos trying to shut you up would
come out and speak his/her mind about teh situation we could try to settle
this like the adults we are.. aka not calling eatchother offending names but
to simply debate...

I dont think I've hidden my impression and experience based on the lack of a returned phone call, timely e-mail response, wrong product sent etc. I wont purchase anything from him again, but thats just me from my personal experience, I'm sure others have had great success.
 
Mike, you and I both had an issue with boomer over the fake dyno numbers he posted. We both knew they were fake. I've never liked gary, from the start. It was during that time that I became hated by the board. You're now seeing the same things I was talking about a year ago.

If your experience is legit with a vendor, it should be available for public consumption. Brodum can ruin a board in a heartbeat. With gary, that is a major issue here.
 
Speak your mind Mike that's why the forums here, I've supported Gary as well but I've gotta agree with what Jake said he's gotta pick 1 business and focus on it. He's mentioned some cool idea's and come through on some not so much on others and he certainly isn't a presence on the forums as he once was...:dontknow:

There are several issues at hand here.

Garyism, the reputation of the forum, not rocking the boat and alienating friends

1) Garyism....I got caught up in this like many did...I bought some $600 door handles. The handles (several SoCal guys have seen and commented) are brown in sunlight, the finish is coming off and the finish on the tailgate handle was never fully applied. When I called Gary about the finish he said he noticed the same thing and blamed the anodizer...well I didn't buy the handles from the anodizer...I bought them from X-metal...next they rattle horribly...another phone call...he told me to try glueing in 1/16" RC fuel line and see if that helps...For the $$$ I did not expect to have to do my own modifications...btw the fuel line idea didn't work...

Lowering kit...first call...wrong shocks....second call.... bracket to raise back to keep from the bottoming out problem...3rd call...bottoming out fix caused weight transfer now front bottoms out....latest call...front bottoming out fix failing....

2) Reputation of the forum...If you look right now there are nearly as many guests as there are members signed on...those guests read the posts, our replies and make purchasing decisions...decisions that in many cases lead to people sending money to X-metal for a Gen IV only to have that money go missing for months and months and months...this issue is bigger than many know...

3) And now I am alienating people like you Bill and that simply sucks for me as I hold you in very high regard, but I will not sit by anymore as products are shipped before the problems are vetted out or when they are shipped months after the money is taken or when hp claims are exagerated or when big $$$ builds are done poorly or when bumpsteer kits have to be machined by the customer to work etc....

BTW Gary called me at 6:00am last week to "talk"...he said the lowering kit front spring issue had been resolved...that I had the wrong front springs and that he would send the correct ones...and he did....and the second they were shipped he E-mailed me and asked if I would go back and edit my Throttle Body comments....I am not for sale...thank you for the springs that replace the faulty ones... but as I paid for those...I figure we are even..
 
Boomer away from work is a super nice person, but at work things go totally different, only one person , doing the job of ten.

He really needs to do one or the other, motorcycles or vipers, ya just cant work and play at the same time.

For a fact , Nowwhat is right, says one thing to his face , then another behind the back.

I have heard many many horror stories about buisiness deals with Gary, people not getting stuff, things not right, so on and so on.

But at the same time Gary has shown me proof of where people have recieved there items and still claim to have never gotten them.

I even personally told Gary during our last talk , I thought he would be better off on a viper car forum.

and I still do.

There are a ton of poeple that have beef with Gary and will not stand up and speak, I know 3 very well.

but ya know , i havent bought anything from him, because it does take a very long time to recieve.

sorry for the all over the place ranting, I jsut dont feel so good.

Nowwhat I hold soo much respect for you , I dont think you could ever comprehend.

Everyone should speak there mind and be truethful about it , I know I should.

Ok, i may not have spent a lot of money buying stuff from Boomer but the stuff that i did buy did take a loooong time to get.

Gary in person is a really nice guy. As a bussines man........well, he need to work on that. Lately, is it me or does anyone else see that he only comes on here to advertise new products.:dontknow:

If you run a bussines, run it well and take care of your customers!!

If your product has faults, don't make excuses and fix it!!
 
Business and friendship they dont mix IMO.
Keep them seperate and rate each individually and Nowwhat did just that.

I like seeing feedback for vendors. The awesome ones stick out and the ones that arent 100% also stick out.
 
Ya know.............everybody should just speak the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts.......we all know that in our peronal relationships with the ladies.....

I have met Gary, had dinner with him and Rachel two years ago on Maui. The forum was small back then and his first shifter and drop kit were brand new. We had a great time and I love my shifter and drop kit. They are not perfect but, its better than stock.

The waiting for a long time for stuff.........well as an owner of a mail order business, thats really bad IMO. Accurate time lines should be the norm. I know I ordered stuff that took so long......I gave up. I was never charged, but I was dissappointed.

If a product is subpar, people should be able to express those thoughts. Imagine if we didnt warn people about J Hennesey!!!

Mike, I understand your post competely. I dont really care for the drama, but shit, if a part sucks............everybody should be warned so we dont waste our money. If this happens manufacturers wont release crap..........they will offer good stuff............and everybody wins.

This post wasnt easy for me to write................as I like Gary..........and although I have never met Mike, I have a lot of respect for him.

I think Gary was really good for this forum about 9 months ago. Unfortunately we grew too fast for him. (Hell, it seems like we are growing too fast for ourselves sometimes.)

Mike (Brady) I have noticed your posts over the last month (..yes, they are a bit antagonistic but not over the top) so quit worrying about it!

I think you are feeling to see if its okay to disagree. It is.:)

There has been alot of drama lately but I dont think what you are doing is drama (Atleast not on the scale that we have seen lately), I think of it more like being the guy that has the money and the experience to call someone out. You are the guy alot of us look to cuz you are kind of like our guinea pig....you have pretty much tested or tried most of the products for our trucks and even a couple of motors!:D I know I hope my Red Beast will someday be as fast as yours...(I dont make enough to sell her!:))

So do what you do Cowboy and make sure you rinse before you turn the shower off!:D:D:D

BTW.....If you ever decide to get rid of anything that actually works from your truck, Can I have it?:D:D:D:D
