Placed my order last week for a set of JMB Midpipes. My slow but steady upgrades are making their way.

Anything I should be worried about or know before or while installing them?

Just the 02 sensors being fused in the stock exhaust other than that pretty much straight forward install.

Biggest problem you will encounter is more power....you will just have to be careful....:burnout:

After reading up on how some said it was a pain in the ass to install (O2 sensors, and getting the metal clip things on bolts off) i took the pipe to a local muffler shop and the guy did it in 30 mins and only charged me 40 bucks...well worth it IMO. He did the work while i watched, drinking a beer.:D

The sound my truck makes now is awesome. Enjoy yours!

installed but......

Just finished installing everything. Everyone was right. I didnt have a problem with the drivers side O2 Sensors but the Passanger side on close to the Manifold was all but welded in. I ended up pulling the Cat back off and then mocking everying up. Hardest part by far was the bolt next to the starter. what a bitch. Also. i have a check engine light on now. I'm assuming that i jacked up one of the O2 Sensors more specificaly the Passanger side one. it runs fine though, actually better then fine it runs awsome. should i be worried if i messed up a O2 sensor. what will it do. can it wait until i get a SCT tunner to turn off the downstream sensor? or will somthing go bad fst that i need to get everyting fixed this very second and not drive it until i do? Im not seeing any code just the yellow check engine light.

Thanks for all the help guys. all your past failures and success really did help.

The upstream O2 sensors are the ones that count..they feed info to the PCM so it can adjust A/F, etc.....the downstreams just check on cat performance...that is why you are getting a CEL.........you are OK to drive as long as the CEL is not flashing....if it starts flashing you need to shutdown ASAP...

check the connectors on the sensor harness the blades get pushed in (figured that out after 2 new sensors:dontknow: ) use a pair of needle nose to pull them back into place.

thanks. What would cause it to mess up. I didnt disconnect them i just Unbolted them but was carefull when messing with the wires. the only one i was rough with was the Passenger side one close to the exhause manifold.

That usually is the culprit. So you dropped your old exhaust without diconnecting the o2's. So when you took them out you where twisting the wire's as you where loosening the sensors, with them still connected to the harness?;) check the connections make sure they didnt pull out. It doesn't take much.

I assume you're running the mids without converters? If so, plug in a OBD II reader or cycle the iginition key to see what codes you have. You'll probably need sims or a tune to turn off the rear O2's. As advised, check for damages too. It doesn't take much to damage connectors, terminal pins/sockets and wiring.

Did you fit JMB O2 sims as if not it will keep throwing the management light.

Ya i put the mechanical O2 sims in. i didnt do anything to them but put them in. was i supposed to fit them at all or anything.

just to be sure... The front o2 sensor goes in the front holes in the midpipes and the rear holes in the midpipes get the sims and the o2's go in the sims. the sims pull the o2 sensors out of the exhaust stream. I just did mine and i don't have any CEL's or problems just the most awesome sound i have ever heard!!!! now i need the damn tuner!!! Then of course more tires!!! These trucks are a hybrid!. the burn gas and tires!

everything sounds and runs good. only noticed a slight engine brake when letting off the gas and coasting for a while but nothing bad. just not as smooth as a coast like before I switched the mids. also the code reads P0152.

anyone know where to get a passanger side O2 sensors for a decent price. and if they carry them on hand. aslo what is the part number?

02

just got back from advanced auto parts and argued witht the guy at the counter. hopefully im the a$$hole and I'm wrong so i dont have to go back and get another one. but i got into it with the guy when i gave him the code that my truck was throwing (p0152) and told him i needed the passanger side upstream o2 sensor. he asked what side it was. i thought it was the left side. but according to him its the right. hopefully hes right an im wrong. I know the code says right cylinder bank. question to all of you is....is the passanger side the right bank or left bank?

long story short i listened and order it i will pick it up tomorrow.

any suggestions on the easiest way to replace? IE remove wheel go in through the wheel well? or just struggle and try to get my arm up there from underneight. or find a midget and through him in the engine bay?
