I just got my truck back after a few hours at the shop...a few weeks after rebuilding it I got the GM solenoid installed today and all I can say is WOW.....night and day difference, way smoother shifts and I haven't got the 1-2-1-2-1-2 since.....Just thought i'd share...a definite must!

Last one burned up for some reason.

It smoothed out the shift as in it's not as hard/fast????

I'm looking to firm up my shifts ALOT. Right now It just takes it's time..............

I've got a shift kit and gm solenoid but was asked not to install it.

I have heard that the shift kits are worthless from tranny guys but I have also heard it helps from the ones driving the truck. FWIW.

Fill me in on this GM style solenoid! you got a part number?
and what kind of $$ you looking at? Thanks

#REC. This kit was specifically designed to handle higher base pressure in high performance applications and to improve the reliability of the governor solenoid in normal use. In performance units the pressure can flood the Dodge solenoid and cause a no shift condition at full throttle. This is the fix. Fits all rear wheel drive RE model transmissions. Added 9-25-2008. Cost $149.00

Get the solenoid it's a MUST....my tranny guy bought it but only said it was about $90 from bosch...it literally makes a night and day difference...no more 1-2-1-2 bounce out of first gear while going slow...down shifts at hwy speeds are UNREAL.....feels like I am driving in a Luxury car with an auto under normal driving conditions, and at the same time acts like a monster when getting on itI am very impressed...and yes shifts kits are pretty much worthless.... I had my tranny rebuilt and drove it around for about 2 weeks then got the solenoid installed yesterday an it is honestly the missing link in this tranny...

check this guy out...he has dodge owners all over the US driving to see him...super cool guys there and make you feel like family!!!
WWW.ATFSPEED.COM he does way more than just tranny

Can you ask your tranny guy where he bought it for $90? PATC has it for $149.

What burned up? Who asked you not to install the gm solenoid? I wanna get as much info as possible about this. Can anyone else vouch for this solenoid? The tranny is the only thing I dislike about my 10.

The first one in a 10 failed in jrgnd's truck shortly after the install, I think. Was probably a faulty part.

I'm going to put it in mine, see if it firms it up and gets it off the rev limiter in 1st...........................

Anyone want to donate 3,500 bucks so's I don't have to worry about this anymore :(

The company that keeps warrantying my transmissions asked me not to install it and see if this one is any better. And although it didn't grenade on it's fist 2-3 shift it just doesn't feel right............. I know what a good transmission fells like, maybe the solenoid will give me that feeling and or cushion tell I can fix it.......

There are several threads on this. Do a search for solenoid and you will some discussions from various members and vendors.

i have to say im not a auto trans guy.....really i dislike them....i have never found any auto trans that i like or drove the way i do. i like to keep my RPMs up when i drive....that was untill i drove burntrubber 06 QC. i like his trans the way it shiffted and how it kept the RPMs up. needless to say i still will not get rid of my RC but now i have found a auto trans that i like. i love the harshness of the shifts.

Trust me it is way worth it...I ABSOLUTELY HATED DRIVING THIS TRUCK AND WAS CONSIDERING SELLING IT ALL B/C OF THE TRANNY...now with that piece it feels the way it should with smooth effortless shifts....I actually did the solenoid b/c of other QC members talking about it...
It's actually more like $105 but he is a tranny guy so he might get them a wholesale rate:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:
I put his website there....atfspeed.com ask for patrick or Jason

It's crazy, but I feel the same way you did about the tranny. Stupid question, Does the tranny have to come out to install the solenoid? If not I will definetely give this a try.

I'm pretty sure the tranny does not have to come out. There is a DIY thread on it somewhere.

Edit: Here is a copy from another thread.

Scott, the solenoids are really easy. With the pan and filter down, you'll see the 1-2 solenoid on the pass. side of the valve body. Unscrew the screws and unplug the old one, replacement is reverse. The other one is toward the back of the valve body. Again, remove the screws, unplug, and replace. Reuse the gaskets you find.
Sorry, no pretty pictures.

Happy to hear that...Let me know how it is doing after 3000 miles. My fried, but I think it happen due to a faulty part or inproper installation.
