stock pirellis are pure and total shit! today a nice magic "tumor" has bulged from my sidewall.... this will be the third tire to have problems since i bought this truck... its pure sickening how these tires have had trouble handling a pot hole, gravel drive, or various road objects.... i bought the RC with 26k i got 29k now and 3 tires.... thats one per 1k miles... damn. sorry for the rant but tomorrow i will be goin to get me some new ones..... i am leaning towards some general grabbers or kuhmo tires... local tire shop can get generals OTD for 675 and kuhmos OTD for 619 what you guys think?

Where in the hell have you been since Macon??? Did we scare you away. BTW Pirellis are junk. Have heard good things about Generals and Kumho. Many of us are on the Nitto S420's good tire for the money.

nah i didnt get scared off but i got real damn busy when i got home... all this talk of dyin economy and i still workin 80hrs a week..... i am ready for my recesion

but i back and i ready to play!!!

wonder if mine were a bad batch or since they were new in 04 are they just old? i am sure with 26k since 04 they sat alot maybe thats the problem.... i notice if they sit over a day or so that they have some hella flatspots in em when i go to leave

Seems like the Pirellis are either hated or liked....I have no problem with them....but I dont drive in the rain and I know that has been a major complaint...no good when the road is wet.....and yes, they will get flats spots after a few days sitting but mine smooth out after 5-10 miles..

oh yeah i was in the rain with em bout 3 times might near suicide to drive in the rain with em... but its kinda fun to spin around without alot of tread loss

Did tire prices in general go up when oil prices went through the roof this summer? I have been shopping for tires for my gf's Honda and they are all $100 each before install!!! I even tried tirerack.com but would only save $20 after shipping them to Maui. Looks like Costco has the best deal.

Never had issues with my 'Rellis.. But I would lean more towards the Nittos that Jack mentioned above.. Great looking tread on that particular tire..

had generals on the QC nitto's are on the RC, had 2 sets of pirelli's and they sucked. barely would balance

I have the General Grabber UHP's and I love 'em.Better ride, waaaaay better on wet roads,no noise, and handling is real good.

The Pirellis were slightly stickier in the corners, until I did a few burn-outs on them and then they were awful.

$675 doesn't sound bad.Mine were only a little cheaper (with mount & balance)

Take the truck out (to a deserted lot or road) and have some smoky fun on the Pirellis before you ditch 'em :D

above disclaimer added to pacify the safety police :p :D

Outnumbered is selling a nearly new set of tires in the buy/sell section. Might be worth a look.

Most low profile tires don't handle pot holes and will the side wall will give out if hit hard enough.
I haven't had any problems with the one's on my truck, but my daily driver is a different story.

I hated the Pirrelli's and had to replace one due to side wall bulge-I drove for another season and then got a second bulge on the same tire-replaced with BFG and the truck drives smooth and no road bounce. I am very happy with the BFG. The BFG are alot of money ($1600.00-Toronto) and very soft but I love the tread pattern and the ride.

My tire dealer said I would get less than 20K miles-we will see.

I've gone through 3 sets of factory tires and 3 sets of aftermarkets. To date the Yokohama Prada's have been best overall. Agree the factory tires would rate last.

I thought your new truck has Cooper Zeon's on it?

I've never like Pirelli's on any vehicle I've driven with them. Michelins are my favorite on a sedan. I changed my truck tires to BFG KDW2's and they've been great, at least from what I remember. Quieter and smoother on the road, much better in the rain, and seem better overall traction than the factory Pirellis.

ever heard of ?nexim? (not sure if i spelled it right?) tires? i can get a set of them for 478.. but i am gonna buy 2 new tires and shoe the front then get out my cameramabob and do some nice burnout vids on the old relis. then i gonna ride over to the tire store and get the others mounted
