How come my Obama diversity therapy got shut down....?:dontknow:

I realize that the Welshman had been asking for a vacation for some time. But to close my thread down seemed to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater...

The thread was not a source of trouble in (and of) itself, was it? And it seemed to be succeeding in providing consistent entertainment for those who went there.... There was usually civilized bantering back and forth....

The Welshman's conduct had be corrected eventually, but I see no reason in the world why my thread should be closed....The thread wasn't inharmonious or troublesome....

I gotta say, I'm a bit miffed about that....

There is a specific forum for questions and grievances here, Tim.... It's called "Members / Moderators / Vendors Comments" under the "Main Forum" section on the index page. Here is a link:

http://www.vtcoa.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=45

This section can only be viewed by the forum staff and the individual member that posts a thread. I think it would be the appropriate place to post a question of this kind, and I wasn't sure if you were aware of this special section.

Collateral Damage would be my guess.

Seems a bit Draconian.....

A successful thread represents a good idea (essentially). And when it withstands the test of time (around here, most ideas die a fairly quick death) it becomes a repository for good input and memorable discussions.... These are like intellectual properties that serve to remind us of moments of learning or insight...

They shoudn't just be tossed into the shitter like that.

OK, so the Welshman crossed the line frequently. Why not leave the thread intact as a message to others who might consider pushing the envelope...? That'd be constructive and educational.....

There are a number of us here who participated in the therapy of taking a few shots at Obama and his brand of policy... People who are a more than bit pissed about having to deal with this guy for at least the next four years. And if I get to feeling fed up, I could come here and say something like, "I guess I'm just going to have to put up with Obama's personal brand of socialism until 2012........ Well, shit.......". There's nothing unacceptable about that.:dontknow:

I was not aware of that section, Jake...

Does that mean that I'm violating "robots rules of order" by brining it up here...?

No.... I don't think so.  :dontknow: It's just a more.... directed..... way of getting your question answered.

but it also lets cetain members who did "stop by" those threads to at least view other's OPINIONS, and maybe or maybe not make a reply (myself)...i use it more as "exemplary information"...i would have probably asked where it went, so if not for D, then i (someone) else may have asked the same question?:dontknow:

I'm really hoping that you do not take this wrong Tim, but sometimes things are shared with me in confidence, and when this happens I do not say anything our of respect for that person.

It would be the same if you shared something with me and did not want it out in the open. In this particular case I did state what I know to be true, since Shawn's name came up.

Still friends?:dontknow:

Of course, but I think it's the responsibility of the one who closed the thread to own up to it.....

It kind'a smells if you ask me... If this is a residual of something personal I'm not gonna be happy... at all...

Don't feel bad Tim, I had a thread deleted because one person totally misinterpreted a post.

This reminds me of a similar version of a qoate attributed to Joe Kennedy.

The standard seems to be that it doesn't matter what you say, or the intent of what you say, but what every single person reading it thinks you said.

The above situation is the cause of many arguments here, because some people lack the intellect to understand the fact that depending on where and when a person was born has an influence on what is offensive.

Be that as it may.....

I'd like an answer... I have as much tenure here as just about anyone....

I feel that at least I deserve an explanation.

Here's a suggestion.

Ask that it be moved to the new forum, be reopened, and have all the racist remarks removed.
