Hey Everyone,
Im sure that this has been talked about a hundred times over but Im tired of searching and besides I wanted to start my own thread. Woo Hoo. Neways, I am working on installing all of the bolt ons that I can besides forced induction, and would like to beef up the internals a lil bit such as a cam and heads. Due to the cost of going internal I cant Blow$$$ the balls out of it but would like to do it right. So my question is could anyone give me any advice on this and while inside what other things should I do besides the cam? Thanks for your input guys.

honestly i think if you are going to take it apart do it right and do it all cam pistons, push rods retainer springs etc. and go forged. save you from having to do it again later.

without a blower....you will be sub 600 rwhp (No NOS)....and don't need to beef the internals.....

Thanks Guys. I will look into both. Now how about the caltracs? Are they really worth the money?

What is your goal? I only have exhaust done to mine and still beat most people to the next red light.

Edited to add: NOT racing, just getting to the speed limit quickly.

Just mod the way most of us did...........one at a time. Exhaust, midpipes, computor, etc.....

Check the sigs of the more modded rigs out there............most have the caltracs. Seems they do work. Mine are in the garage awaiting install.

Caltracs Are Real improvement for sure. Catless mids will yield about 30 hp and cost under a 1k:rock:

Once again you need to have a goal in mind. We say it over and over...begin with a goal in mind. You have not stated what it is you want.

Most of the recommendations above are solid. Why a cam? The one you have is very usable in most all situations. Your heads are wonderful...unless you are looking to be beyond 6 or 700 hp.

Mike is most accurate. Under six hundred or even a little more your internal parts are fine. Stick to the bolt on stuff that matters. If you have a desire to go higher in power, start at the bottom end...forged rods, forged pistons, and re-consider forced induction.

If you are going to the strip the cal-tracs are important, but you also need to consider a loker rear end...and possibly a ratio change.

Begin at the beginning...and that means a decision about what you want as your final product. Once you start everything is a trade-off...if you know where you are headed, those trade-off decisions are much easier.

yeah what he said.I don't know what I'm talking about I'm just a smarta**.so my girlfriend says. goodluck

Best bang for the buck for low 1/4 ET's

VEC III
Caltrac's
Catless Mids
Catback
NOS
Drag radials

Mid to Low 12.xx

Here's the deal my friends and I have been constantly outdoing each other in the realm of speed and HP. With my first RC I outdid all of them with HP but one of my friends has a pretty well built STi and I cant get him until well over 120-130mph. Now I bought the 06 RC and two of my other friends are building up an Evo and a CTS-V. So without destroying my bank account I need to destroy them out of the hole and through the twists and turns. With this in mind Ive bought the K&N Drop in filter, 170 T-stat, X-metal TB, And lowering kit. I plan on buying the X-metal mids and magnaflow @ the end of the month and for christmas take her down to DC for a tune and programmer. I would appreciate any and all input or suggestions. Thanks Guys

Using the words "twists and turns" in the same paragraph as "truck" just seems odd to me :dontknow:

Yeah I know but thats the truth of it. Probably not possible but its worth a shot. If anything I know that I will sound better and still have the most HP

save your money and install a hidden NOS system and suprise them all telling them you are stock! watch out for the CTSV....my brother had one that we put a 100 shot on it....thats it and it ran 11.8 @ 120!!!!! You'll need NOS and be one hell of a driver to hang with that!

Caltracs, slicks, 4:88's....with a 100 shot for 3rd and 4th.

or sell your truck and get an 03 Z06??? put a 100 shot in that!

Forget the twist and turns....:D

basics....

Catless mids.....15ish rwhp and great sound....scare the crap outta them
Catback.....10ish rwhp.....see above....$$ well spent
Flash and T-stat....can't go wrong with a good dyno tune....

If you are staying bolt on only...some 4.88s will really help.....

Air Filter....Throttle Body are a few rwhp and are for sound and bling factor...

JMB Justin's QA1 shocks help steady the truck.....

Bottom line though....to really run well without breaking the bank....NOS....100shot...strip only....run it on the street and kiss your insurance goodbye...:D

Have Fun.....
