A couple nights ago I was walking past the front of my truck and heard a noise. I opened the hood and there was a kitten sitting on top of my battery.
Just 2 hours earlier I took the truck to the store to get dog food. Wonder if he went for a ride????
Then today, I pop the hood just to take a peek again, and the kitten was on the back of the intake and there was a mom or dad cat also in there with it.
Of course they both got away again, but what can I do?
My next step is to call someone (city?) to trap them. If I start the truck and they are in there its gonna make a heck of a mess.
Any other ideas? And no, I am not gonna posion them....

Why not????:dontknow: LOL!!!

Yer gonna have to catch them....... That's all there is to it....

One way or another someone will have to catch 'em and move them.......

Until them, just beep the horn a coupla blasts before you turn the key.....

D

make them a home close by and put some kitty nip in it and they will go to it. Cats are easy to trap.

Thought of that, but I don't want to attract all the neighborhood cats either.
Should have seen us earlier. 4 of us trying to get that kitten and still got away. He was at the top, made his way on the crossmember between the oil pan, back up to the empty battery tray almost, then into the fan, then escaped all of us....
Tricky little guy

Time to install the air horns :D

he he he, air horns. might as well poison it, cause it'll have a heart attack otherwise

set up a little cage and catch them...then you can bring them to the pound. Or, I would keep them in the cage, fill up your garbage pail with water and toss the cage in the pail.

you can get one of those steel traps (kinda like a rabbit gum) from tractor supply ...then take them to the city pound.

Ever try to find a tractor supply in South Florida? :shot:

Put a dog in there...:dontknow: :D

Both my dogs are 70lbs+. I could chain one to each front tire :D

I wouldn't bother calling animal control unless you want to pay a hefty sum to have them remove the cats. We called about a racoon and they wanted $150 each!

I think you should be able to coax them into a cage and take them to the humane society. They might even loan you a cage and give you tips on "How to".

had that happen to us..wife went to run an errand one cool morning, cranked over the engine and there was a terrible wailing, thumping kind of noise coming from the engine:D it was loud enough to wake me up. i just knew that i was going to find a bloody mess in there. just as i was about to open the hood a cat fell out of the wheel well..still alive, minus some fur:p we took it to the vet, he set a broken leg, and mended some cuts. we ended up keeping that cat for twelve years. put some moth balls in the engine compartment, that may help.

I use moth balls in my boat in the winter and I have never had an animal in there. I have heard that dryer sheets (BOUNCE) works just as well but doesn't stink as bad.
