Like the smart Car but feeling a little limp with it’s stock 60hp powerplant? Well, not to fear. Peter Bee along with help from the UK’s Seton Racing and tuning shop Z Cars have done a couple of modifications to one to put a little punch into the road-egg.
They just dropped a Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle engine into it! Linked with a Cosworth differential, this provides 180 hp with a redline of 13,000 RPM. End result? 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds and it tops out at 132mph.
Thinking that might be a little too much for the dinky little car? Think again. According to Jalopnik, “It nearly matched a Mistubishi Evo FQ-330 in an Autosport Magazine head-to-head test.â€
