I was talking with my buddy (a Smart car owner) and told him all about the Mopar Nationals. I said, "Here's some kryptonite for the Smart forums...." and sent him some links to the pics and video of the weekend.

He sent these back:

I don't know, cut the top off of one of them and it would be a blast jamming around town. Don't think I would try the freeway though.

I do not think the fellow Smart Car / Tree hugger owners would see the humor in a 1000 hp Venom Smart car when it smokes while sitting at the stop light. :D

No dude I understand completely...The beatings for drooling to much and the sadistic taint lashing at the hands of Tyrannical Punjabi Ice cream vendors, what a horrible life..Once a Trad always a Tard :damnmate: :embarassed: :embarassed:

Like the smart Car but feeling a little limp with it’s stock 60hp powerplant? Well, not to fear. Peter Bee along with help from the UK’s Seton Racing and tuning shop Z Cars have done a couple of modifications to one to put a little punch into the road-egg.

They just dropped a Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle engine into it! Linked with a Cosworth differential, this provides 180 hp with a redline of 13,000 RPM. End result? 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds and it tops out at 132mph.

Thinking that might be a little too much for the dinky little car? Think again. According to Jalopnik, “It nearly matched a Mistubishi Evo FQ-330 in an Autosport Magazine head-to-head test.”
