Anybody here had it done? Just set up an appointment to get my eyes done on Oct 27. I'm horribly near-sighted, and have been wearing contacts for ~15 years now. Just tired of dealing with them, but kinda nervous about somebody cutting open the top of my eye then firing lasers into it.:(

I know that they've been doing this a long time and that the success rate is very high....

Still it can be a very daunting prospect when yer actually next in line.....

God bless....I pray and hope that all goes well for ya.....

I had PRK done 2 years ago and the results are unbelievable!! It was the best thing I ever did. I was 20/400 before the surgery and now I'm 20/12 in both eyes. PRK is a little more invasive than Lasik and it also takes a little longer to heal, but for me it was my only choice since I fly in the military. Lasik is much less painful and the results are more immediate, you'll basically be good to go a couple days afer the surgery, but if you plan on doing any extreme sports where your eyes might take a hit, I'd consider PRK rather than lasik. Ask your doctor, he'll steer you in the right direction.

A buddy of mine had his done in sorrento valley a few months ago. The bad news?? They screwed it up and 'lazered his eye too much' :dontknow: . The good news?? They fixed it somehow...sounds fishy to me, but thats what he said  . All in all he can see a lot better now  .

It's that one in a million chance that they screw something up that scares me - the last 999,999 people came through just fine, your turn...What if the last set of boobs you saw was the last pair you'd ever see?<shudder>

I had it done about a year and a half a go and my aunt and brother had it done about 3 yrs ago. We all love it......I would do it again if I had to. I see 20/15. Hell, the procedure only takes about 3 min an eye......I was alittle worried myself, but it is well worth the money. No more glasses and no more contacts. Good luck with it and let us know how it turns out.....bikertat
And don't worry about the boob thing......you'll still have your since of touch......and smell:eek: ewww:D Just kidding.....all will go well for ya....

Had mine done about 8 years ago. Made a huge improvement on my quality of life. No glasses, no contacts, my vision is still perfect.

One thing to note: If you have been wearing contacts for a few years, your doctor may recommend that you wear glasses for a couple of monthe before the surgery. The eyes tend to "swell" a little during the prolonged use of contacts...wearing glasses for a couple of months allows them to regain the "normal" size. Some people that have had trouble with the surgery have gone from contacts---->straight to lasik.....

Your opthamologist will recommend what's best for your situation.

Good luck!

Thats true....I forgot about that.....I wore contact for ever and never took them out, hence getting the surgery......But you will definetly have to wear glasses til the surgery....Good point...bikertat

I should be getting the PRK done as soon as I get back. I have been trying to do it through the military for the last 4 years. But I have my packet done and hopefully it will still be good when I get back to germany, so I can have the surgery done ASAP. That is one of the things that I need to have done so that I can go fly.

Yeah, they told me to stop wearing the contacts two weeks before the surgery - I went and got glasses today.

im looking into it myself i was told it can be done for $400 buck per eye does that sound good?

That's retarded cheap!! Mine's gonna be around $4k total, because I need custom Lasik due to my eyes. People I've talked to who the regular deal paid around $2500-3000.

It's not some guy named Joe-Bob with a X-Acto and a laser pointer, is it?

As long as it's good and rusty...

"Here, drink this and lay back, you won't feel a thing"

Wow, how many times have I said that before?:)

dude had it done, i am 20-20 now.
i was a text book case for everything that could wrong, i lost my sight for 2 months when my lenses kept getting infected etc.
i got thru that, only to poke a screwdriver into my eye!
so even though all that happened i would do it again. i wore glasses for 25 years, and would never go back!
