The flywheel is stored energy that is transfered to the driveline when the clutch released. With a lighter flywheel, there is less rotational mass and therefore less stored energy......This puts a greater load on the engine, and will require higher rpms on take off to equal the same result in movement. It impacts drivability in stop/start traffic and low driving speeds.
