Leaking Wilwood Calipers

I have the Stinker (DTS) rear end with Wilwood rotors and calipers.

Both calipers have dripped a little brake fluid from the start. Now one of them is really leaking badly. I can't find the leak from any of the four bleed valves, so the only conclusion I can make is that the o-rings behind the pistons are the cause.

Anyone else had this issue? Any one have a solution?

I am going to pull one of the calipers and put on a spare...does anyone know the pads that should be used?
 
The full rear end has been great...the issue is with the Wilwood calipers. They are leaking and I think I will have to rebuild them to get them to stop. But having an extra set, will allow me to just replace the calipers...but maybe DTS will be able to give me the part number for some brake pads to use.

Once I swap the calipers, I will be ready to unload the extra set of Wilwoods...any one interested?

will they fit the stock rearend & whatcha lookin' to get for them ?:)

Inside by the pads...seems to come down from inside the rotors. Outside is dry.

Maybe just o-rings?

Sounds like it.... And you're right, I believe they would need to be rebuilt. :( Are they powdercoated? If they didn't get all the coating out of the cylinders, it could have ate up the o-rings, causing them to leak. :dontknow: It's strange, because Wilwood's are usually top-o-the heap. :confused: :(

That's what I thought. But I will replace them with the new ones and let someone else have the year old ones. (maybe 4000 miles on them).

Or I can have Wilwood rebuild them and add the rebuild cost to what I get for them.

Should be an easy job...pull the old ones, use the same pads, install the new ones...I will probably get it done in about 2 months! (maybe I will just call Stingray...hmmmm....

If you have fluid leaking on the pads, I would NOT re-use the pads. It's just good insurance to replace IMO.

Got to get someone to tell me what pads to get...

Damn brake fluid...one drop inside a wheel ends up looking like a gallon...

I pulled my info out from my recent purchase and it is showing a part# 150-8850K.
If you need me to scan these intructions and email them i will gladly do it for you

Pulled the leaking caliper...five minutes including removing the wheel...

Just cannot tell which of the pistons it is coming from...I think I will pull both, put on the new ones and send the leaking ones to Wilwood to have them rebuilt.

Question...do I need to bleed the front brakes too...I am of the opinion that since they have not been touched I should just have to bleed the rears...how wrong am I?

not so sure Roy, normaly one starts bleeding the the most remote caliper from the main cilinder... and so the way up ... so i would do them to... not such a big deal... and , you would feel the sponzy pedal IF there's air in... so it will tell his own .....;)

oh PROF... :D , i would love to.... but time...:eek: i have my boat project , my 928 racer project, my oldtimers, my truck, my home , my grandkids, my wife :D :D , my friends, my pubs, my family,...and IF there's time left i have a buzzyness to run with 15 people....:confused: :dontknow: :D :D and all that , i need about 8 hours sleep... every day ! :mad: Days should be 48 hours for me....:rolleyes:

and not to forget my forums time....:eek: :party:
